My USHL Chicago Steel jersey collection is available for sale. Hopefully it is okay to post a link to the album since the amount of photos would be a lot for this thread. The collection features a few who have played at the NHL level (John Moore, Jaccob Slavin, Andy Miele), a few that have played well at the AHL & ECHL level and some solid college players. The jerseys were all purchased through the team over the years. I'm looking for $3300 shipped obo for the collection. Would possibly entertain offers on singles but would prefer to sell it all as one. You gotta remember, just because somebody has it for sale at a certain number doesn't mean that's what it's worth. Sadly your item is only worth what somebody will pay for it at that time. Steiner and Meigray will always get more for what they sell because of who they are and buyers worried about fakes and just getting ripped off in general. They have their name backing them, but I've also noticed with Meigray they have plenty of jerseys that have sat on that site for years on end even with all the sales.

This couldn't be more dead on. Authentic jerseys and game worn jerseys appeal to such a small percentage of sports fans due to the costs. A lot of guys I know got out of the hobby before it crashed too hard for many of the reasons listed here and I think they (and myself) got sick of dealing with the jersey collection population where you'd list your jersey, cut a decent deal with somebody on a forum and find it on ebay at twice the price a week later (the main reason I stopped selling here). The hobby is changing, the guys who were big into it years ago are aging and not buying and the guys buying now want deals because with things being so available online there really are deals everywhere if you stay patient. Gamers are all over now, every team sells them and often sells multiples when even 15 years ago it was often hard to come by certain game worns. Bottom line is this hobby is flooded, the value of things are down and people want deals so they can make money off of their purchases down the road. With the selling that I do now it just takes patience if you want top dollar in the same way that it takes patience if you want the best deals. The scope of collecting anything is changing....

I don't want to turn this into a discussion about oppressed groups, but the only way this is going to stop is if the oppressed let go of the past and let it remain in the past. Until a good chunk of our population regardless of race/religion/sex decides to let go of that past and move forward we're always going to end up with this kind of crap and everybody will end up offended.....we're a country with such great potential, some of the greatest potential in the world and it's about time we actually start making an attempt to reach for that potential. It's really sad how short we still fall and how little we have progressed in the 200+ years of existence in this country.

Exactly, and that's the killer is these guys want to rid of the name but keep the donations coming in. I honestly don't think you can have it both ways. I just don't get it, I'm Norwegian and I never once thought Thor or any references to the Vikings were offensive. I don't get this world we live in.

I really dislike the group that seems to want to find the Hawks logo and name offensive. I say the team change it's name, change it's logo and stop funneling money into these groups that find them offensive.... in fact I'd be okay if they wanted to use my name, my face and gave money to help organizations of my choosing.

Then don't wear them. Once you put them on they are no longer pristine...and honestly not knowing the history of where it's been or came from (even new) they are probably not very pristine and need to be washed after purchase. I have jerseys that I have washed numerous times and jerseys that have never been worn and other than the unworn jersey being a bit stiffer you cannot tell any difference. And seriously, go look at some gamers out there, especially from minor league teams that only get one home & away set and after a full season with washing after every game they still look fantastic (if you take away the board burns and minor tears). You are not going to hurt the thing washing it unless you dump a pile of bleach in there with it.

Yes, the gamers I have the crests still are new looking after many games of use and many washes.

I'm always amazed at how scared folks are to wash these things or do anything with them. You do realized they are constructed to play hockey in at the highest level with a lot of hitting/bumping ect ect. They get washed after every single game. Spot clean the thing, turn it inside out and throw it in the washer and air dry. If you'r flimsy tshirts don't fall apart in your washing machine then this will be just fine.

I don't post much anymore, probably been a year since I had a pickup but here is a Chicago Steel jersey they wore in the JCWC in Russia this year. Grabbed the dark version, kind of regret not getting the light jersey to go along with it.

It's crazy to think I've seen that jersey in action and now here it is......

Those jerseys are sweet. After the Hawks played the Flyers in the finals I couldn't stand anything Flyers for the longest time, my mens league team went with the flyers colors for our jerseys and their jerseys have again slowly grown on me.

Minor League jerseys are the best!

The one thing with this jersey that shouldn't be a question is it being authentic and possibly even a team issued.

I talked to the seller a bit to get some history on how he got the jersey and he got it as a part of a lot from another collector. He says the other collector is reputable but the facts in this thread obviously tell us all what this jersey is. Best I can tell it does not seem like the seller has any malicious intent, he actually seems pretty clueless in terms of jerseys and jersey detail. This is a case where a potential buyer does need to do his homework but the seller also should be doing his homework, selling something that is not legit for that price could open yourself up for some trouble that you really didn't want. There's no way I would ever list something at that price without knowing exactly what I was selling.

The red SK does indicate 82/83 however the jerseys I've seen from that year also had Gunzo's screened on the left side of the jersey. The numbers also look a bit to thick for that era but that could be just the camera angle. James DuPont wore #25 for the Hawks those years and I've seen both his red and white game worn out there and they both sold in the $2k-3k range. Jerseys from that era if they were game worn were pretty beat up since they generally only had 1 per season and they were often worn for more than 1 season. Based on the fact that it looks like it has no game wear, there's no name plate and the font appears to be a bit off I'd say this is a customized authentic or possibly some type of team issued jersey from that era. It's not a replica. It's an awesome piece from that era, not sure what the value is but I'm guessing you'd fetch in the upper hundreds for it if you sold it off.

Those Britain jerseys are really cool - and I love the purple kings, I have a soft spot for all things southern cali.

I'm really trying to remember back to 2010 but I thought there were 3 more sets made up for the SCF games - it's very possible they could have been in jerseys that were made up for the games but never used? If you take a peak here you can see at the convention they did not use authentics:

CCM more or less equals Reebok. Most of the Reebok protective has been rebranded as CCM now, if the jerseys move to the CCM name they probably won't be anything that we aren't already seeing.

I've seen the Hawks wear authentics and premieres off the ice. I'm pretty certain the authentics they are wearing are not their gamers...lack of puck marks and the fact the jerseys are sized properly tends to give this away. The parades may be another story, the jerseys look a lot bigger on them.

I have a pretty decent collection of russian/KHL jerseys from Kait and Lutch. You can find their authentics for around $150 lettered, I would go that route over the repilcas. The replicas are nice but the authentics are really amazing in detail and from what I've seen from a few gamers identical to what is worn on ice. The jerseys are cut pretty similar to the Edge except they run long, I'm 6' tall and the 54's cover my butt!
