  1. So players like Alfie or Weiss may have the new style while Howard or Hank may have the REEBOK patch sewn over a Vector? I was surprised to read that players would keep older styles and teams would just modify stuff like this.
  2. Look at team photos from the 50's the wheel, team wide, NEVER tilted as bad as the 14 WC. If it did that was an error in sewing/assembly/what ever you want to call it. Team documents of the time always show it level. Never tilted. My example of Giroux was perfect becase he was on the ice with different fonts than his teamamtes. Errors happen, that doesnt mean its correct just because it made it to the ice. http://pics.classicauctions.net/classicauctions/auctions/35/002.jpg http://www.legendsofhockey.net/LegendsOfHockey/trophies/winners/big/STC1955.jpg http://www.legendsofhockey.net/LegendsOfHockey/trophies/winners/big/STC1936.jpg You can see in those pics how it was all over the place. As a Wings fan this is a big deal to me. It's fugly and doesn't honor the tradition. The Alumni sweater with or with out the shoulder patch looks better.
  3. Putting the wheel on tilted is an error. Look at the jerseys on the database. The wheel is always straight. It was designed to be used that way. Maybe someone making sweaters in the 70's 80's put it on like that but it doesn't make it correct. Just because it made it to the ice doesn't mean it's correct. Look at the Groux Flyers jerseys. Wrong fonts, weird combos of different companies. The word DETROIT never appeared above the wheel. It doesn't need too! People who barely know hockey see my jacket and instantly know what it is. It has no words, just a small Winged Wheel on the front. Vintage look is fine, if it looks like something vintage. There is a reason Detroit hasn't changed their sweater since they adopted the Red Wings nickname. It's near perfect. The patch on the shoulders is clean and understated. I know it's too each his own but I have spoken with other Wings fans who hate it as much as me. The Alumni's just look better and are historically accurate.
  4. That Yzermen isn't tilted, it just looks like that. Once the wheel replaced DETROIT it has always been level. The wheel is centered but looks off center because of the Wing
  5. Don't most players just have a REEBOK patch sewn over the Vector? Thats what several red Wings appear to have.
  6. That angers me even more. Usually the Wings get these sweaters right. These 14 WC jerseys though are terrible! I really don't undertand why people like them? The 09 WC sweaters made sense, they were based on the 26-27 Cougars, the 91-92 TBTC jerseys were based on the Cougars 27-28 jerseys. They made sense. This thing? No. The numbers? I don't want to be reminded of 82-83. Sorry, not a good time. The DETROIT on top of the Winged Wheel? No. Never happened that way. Looks terrible. The striping? Never appeared in a design that was close to that. It's not even barber pole. That I couldunderstand. But the worst thing? The Winged Wheel is tilted. The Wheel has never and should never be tilted! FFS! You know who does that? Soccer moms who put the logo on the back of their Ford Expeditions. This sweater looks like something Starter made in the 90's. Now that I see the Alumini sweaters I'm even more pissed about the WC design. Finding out I cant buy an Alumni Authentic makes me want to throw things.
  7. The Flyers jersey is worse. On a side note the Cincinnati Cyclones have retired the number 14. In honor of Pete Rose..... I laugh at that everytime I go down there.
  8. I really need to sit down and study all the nuances pertaining to the jerseys post 6100
  9. Just out of curiosity what about 91-92? Wasn't Rubertis doing them back then?
  10. Ruberti did my 96-97 Nike Hextall authentic. Very nice. It cost me 75.00 I will be sending in my 91-92 CCM Authentic to them. He said he would put the 75 Anv patch and the ASG patches on at that price.
  11. This sucks. Those swetares are beautiful. I'm guessing if I buy one from SportsK or Sportshaven I'll get some Indonesian POS?
  12. They didn't make him practice. So they signed him cheap.
  13. Has anyone purchased one of these yet? Any comments? I did a search and don't see anyone discussing them.
  14. This SUCKS. The Alumini jerseys are beautiful! Usually the Wings get things like this right. The 14 WC jersey looks like something Starter would have made in the 90's for the hip hop crew..
  15. Ron Hextall preseason 92-93 #1 sweater before he switched to his familiar #27.
