  1. Most of my collection are authentics. I don't buy many jerseys, as I mainly collect Red Wings, and some other random jerseys like All Star games. I do have 2 Wings replicas that I wear out to games and to the bar. These I spent no more than $20 a piece on, and I don't care if they get beer spilled on them or random hot wing sauce stains. The only time I wear my authentic jersey is at home or at a relatives house where I know I can keep it nice. My replicas are the CCM 550 variety, which still look pretty darn nice. I wouldn't even bother with the current Reebok Premier jerseys, I'd rather spend the money on a team hoodie than one of those pieces of junk.
  2. I spoke with IceJersey's customer service, and they said that their Wings WC are indeed Edge 2.0. Of course, I won't know 100% until it arrives, but I don't think they would give false information to me. Combined with the coupon code and free shipping, it looks like the best deal on these.
  3. is the concensus that the Wings didn't have nameplates? I'm 99% sure, and the Wings never use them anyway, but just wanted to double check before I get my jersey customized.
  4. Looks like they're being replayed tonight at 8pm on FSD.
  5. Anyone know why the crest is positioned differently than every other picture of the Wings '14 WC jersey I've seen? Am I just seeing things?
  6. Everything about this jersey looks legit.... except that the winged wheel looks odd. On all of the images I can find online, it looks larger and tilted. This one looks smaller and straight. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DETROIT-RED-WINGS-AUTHENTIC-2014-WINTER-CLASSIC-REEBOK-EDGE-2-0-7287-JERSEY-/301004948996?pt=US_Men_s_Athletic_Apparel&var=&hash=item46154b0604
  7. Nearly every part of the jersey has some basis in Wings history. Having 'DETROIT' above the logo: http://www.nhluniforms.com/RedWings/RedWings03.html The old school wings logo: http://www.nhluniforms.com/RedWings/RedWings06.html The number font: http://www.nhluniforms.com/RedWings/RedWings14.html If I had to criticize the jersey for something, it would be that they tried to do too much in one jersey. I would have preferred they stuck to one time period and ran with it instead of making it a combo of 3-4 different eras. But, I still think the jersey works, I like the colors and the look of it. The Wings jersey is classic and will never (hopefully) change. The WC is one of the few times the team gets to be creative with the jersey design. In '09 they went with a classic. In '14 they decided to get a bit more creative. I don't mind.
  8. Yes, the logo used to be tilted. I have 2 Wings jerseys from the late 70's and the wheel is tilted. Also, the logo for these Winter Classic jerseys was actually used in the 30's, so it's not like they made it up: http://www.nhluniforms.com/RedWings/RedWings07.html I don't mind the font, striping, or Detroit above the logo. These jerseys are supposed to have a vintage look while also being an original design, I think they achieved that here. With that logic, you should also be mad that they put the winged wheel patch on the shoulders of the 09 WC jerseys.
  9. I prefer the 2.0's. I mostly buy Red Wings jerseys, and it's what the team wears. I think the 1.0 doesn't hold up that well, I have yet to find one at retail what doesn't have some sort of snag. For example, I wanted to get a 2009 Wings WC authentic. Went to 3 different stores in the Detroit area, and they all had bad snags in them. I think they snag if you look at them funny. I ended up buying a replica since they were made with air knit. My 2.0 has been worn for more than 3 years to games, wrestling with the kids, etc, and still looks brand new. Wordmark or vector, doesn't matter to me.
  10. I'm 5'10" and weigh 200lbs. I wear a 52 in the pre-Reebok CCM jerseys, and I wear a 54 in Edge 2.0. I could have gone either way, a 54 and 56 both fit fine. I opted for the 54, it's baggy enough without being too big. Perfect for wearing to games or around the house. A friend of mine with a similar build opted for the 56 because he wanted the sleeves to be a little longer. I dont own any Edge 1.0's but I did try some on, and I would have probably gone with a 56 with those.
  11. All you need to know is that replicas are now complete junk, the material is ultra thin, snags easily, and looks like junk after a couple of washes. No where near the quality that existed pre-Reebok for replicas. The Edge 1.0 material that Reebok came up with when they took over NHL jersey production is also junk. It snags very easily, and many players complained about how the material performed on the ice. A lot of teams switched to Edge 2.0. Same basic jersey, however the arms are cut more generously, and the material is very similar to the air knit that CCM used to make. On top of all this, Reebok recently decided to have the retail authentics outsourced to Indonesia, dubbed "Indo-Edge" on the forum here. I inspected this version at a local shop. It's made of a lesser quality air-knit, but they're still charging a premium price for it. The construction also is not as good as the Canadian-made authentics that we're used to. I compared it to my Red Wings Canadian-made Edge 2.0 and the differences are night and day. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find Edge 2.0's as the Indo-Edges are taking over. In summary, Reebok sucks
  12. I would assume they'd be 2.0 jerseys. As far as I know, the Wings haven't used anything but 2.0 for a while now.
  13. I know that all the retail 2009 Red Wings Winter Classic jerseys I saw in stores were made with Edge 1.0 material, does anyone know if the team wore 1.0 or 2.0 on the ice for the game? I know they switched to 2.0, I just don't know when. If they wore 2.0, were any jerseys sold at retail with edge 2.0? I was thinking about possibly searching for one (yes, I konw it would probably break the bank), but didn't want to search for something that doesn't exist. Someone around here must have a gamer and can provide me with some info.
  14. Any other retailers selling canadian 2.0? Frozen pond doens't seem to be carrying the wings winter classic anymore.
