  1. Thanks for that - I'm not doubting the legitimacy, rather I think the placement of it is poor stylistically. Where did you get the dates worn from? I've looked in the population report, and don't see it there. Or is it that all teams have to switch jersey sets on a mandatory date?
  2. Greg Johnson gamer, originally tagged for the non-existent 2004/5 season and then amended for the following one. I'm really not too sure about the placement of that 'C'... Still, at least the 'C' is a permanent placement - unlike this Garret Stafford one. From the year when he was captain according to Eliteprospects (although I can find no picture evidence of this, only him with an 'A'), but I guess not all the time, as the big patch of velcro suggests. The back number is really lopsided too - This jersey represents everything I like about minor league gamers...
  3. Sean Backman Dallas Stars training camp jersey. I've never been a big fan of words and player number in the centre of jerseys (especially that awful black Islanders third effort), but this one looks alright to me, as it's simple... Bridgeport Sound Tigers inaugural season jersey, with all the correct patches. I think I'll try and get this one customized, but with a kit from whom? (and who to put on it?)
  4. Nothing nearly as decent as some of the other recent Devils jerseys on this thread, but I wanted to have a Devils jersey and made a speculative bid or two on some that Meigray have been putting on eBay recently. Some haven't come off, this one did. I'd rather have a game issued or training camp jersey from a player who didn't make the cut, knowing that the customization would be to exact on-ice specs, than try and sort customization of jerseys myself (especially as living in Europe, postage and taxes on number kits make it ridiculously expensive). So, here's an Edge 1.0 training camp jersey of Eric Castonguay. It shows no signs of wear and could pass for new...
  5. No need to apologise, I bought it off eBay, so it could easily have said 95-97, it's not like I could do any inspection. As for the dimensions of the crest, no it's not much less than 16". At its widest it's 40cm, so 15.75". Also, comparing to NYIJM29's photo (https://www.flickr.com/photos/128529222@N02/32850586255/), not only is the final 'S' of the crest not pointed, but the ghosting of the crest is significantly less, only in a couple of small places, not all the way round... Then again, if it is the larger version of the logo, then it shouldn't have the 25th anniversary patch on, right? I did wonder if someone had taken a version with the traditional round Islanders crest (from towards the end of the 96-97 season?) and put a repro fisherman on to make it more saleable - but there's no evidence of previous, smaller, stitching on the inside of the jersey (although the thread density of the crest does look higher than that of the 25th patch and the lighthouses on the shoulder yoke). But, if it's not team issued, why bother doing half a customization job (for a player who didn't play)? Apologies as well for taking the thread a bit off topic - if there's a more appropriate bit of the forum for stuff like this, I'll post in there in future... I do really appreciate the info from other forum members though, thanks.
  6. No. Just my poor photography skills on a phone. If it was 95-97, then I'm pretty sure I'd have been ripped off...
  7. Thanks for the info. I've just done an image search for him and see that another jersey on gamewornauctions has 'ghosting' of a possibly reapplied crest similar to the one I've acquired, which at least helps with the provenance of my jersey. Did Korolev ever actually play for the Islanders in the 'fisherman' era? Even just pre-season? He was drafted twice and didn't play an NHL game until the 2000 season. I'm just curious as to why the half-finished fisherman 51 jersey I bought would be kicking around in the first place...
  8. Thanks. I also bought a Marlies away jersey from the same seller. No real affection for the team, I just think they look great...
  9. I've always bought the odd jersey, but it's only recently it's become a sort of hobby. I figured it was time to get involved and post some recent acquisitions here... Ryan Strome authentic from his conditioning stint with the Sound Tigers last season, purchased from a member on here (who told me about this forum). Sebastien Meijer WC U18 jersey (I think from 2004) Maxime Sauve Providence Bruins jersey. Listed by the Bruins as game issued, but shows signs of game use. It's a size 52 (seems odd to me as Eliteprospects has him at 6'0"). Also, the nameplate seems to have been made out of a scrap of pillowcase with rubberized heat-transfer letters. However, it's not as much of a mongrel as this... No neck tag, but has a well-worn Maska tag inside that suggests it's legit. No nameplate. Stacked twill rear numbers but kiss-cut sleeve numbers. Evidence of a larger crest having been removed and replaced. It was suggested that it came from the Islanders organization (pre-season? promo jersey?), whether it's this or an authentic from the time, I'm not too fussed - I'm pretty confident it's not fake and I kinda like its oddness. Not too sure whether to put a nameplate on (I don't think any players of this era wore 51, but I'd appreciate any more info or suggestions if anyone's got any). And finally, as I'm new to all this, I'm in that phase of indiscriminately buying anything that seems to appeal at the time (I think I need to sort this out pretty soon). This Scott Mifsud preseason jersey has been on eBay for a good year and a half. I just figured it was time to put it out of its misery. It doesn't look like it was recycled from another player and shows decent wear for something that must have only been used a few times.
