It's also entirely possible they're saving the good nameplates for regular season jerseys.

Just following up here, it seems pretty obvious to me that Arena Wear does not have matching nameplate material for the new jerseys yet. Also looks like the 2nd E in Pavelec is at a bad angle too. I know they're preseason jerseys and they don't even sew things on with these, but yeah, not thrilled.

Though I haven't personally sent any jerseys to him, I'd assume that if the player is a popular one that Keener can do them, but I'm not entirely sure about that. I'd imagine obscure players (and by that I mean anybody not named Messier/Leetch/Richter/Graves) are impossible going forward.

Starting a few years ago I believe, they had to switch the nameplates on the jerseys for the team to a non Edge plate because Reebok did not supply them with material fast enough. This lead to them not using Edge plates for customers either (which would be accurate I guess, depending on the player and year you were aiming for). After that, when they started getting Edge material back in, they found they weren't getting enough for both the team and customers so they started to keep it just for the players jerseys. That's what happens when Steiner sells six million sets of jerseys every season I guess. It would not surprise me if they don't have Adidas material yet for the teams jerseys, and it wouldn't surprise me even further that if they ever do get it in, that they save it for the team exclusively because of the slow and short supply.

You would think that if there were delays in them getting the stuff for the pros they would have had more time to do customers orders while they were waiting for the pro materials to come in.

As far as I know, considering the difference in wear, I think mine was probably worn by someone else before, but it was definitely worn by Kovalev as it has a photomatched LOA from Meigray. It's possible that yours wasn't recycled, hence the lighter wear. If you have any inkling that it might be legit you can send it to Meigray and pay for authentication which is a great idea and I've done that before with my Ulf Samuelsson jersey. Barry is the authority after all.
