Hey all! New member.
Just want to say I appreciate everyone striving for the real thing. A friend recently bought a gift for my neighbor for Christmas, a Hawks throwback. I was immediately impressed and asked him how much. He explained to me that he "knows someone" who can get authentic jerseys for cheap. Being that I have known this guy for over 10 years, I shelled out. I asked for a Red Sharp jersey. $70, not too bad.
When I got it, I noticed the "A" was off-set, in actual pictures it is much more centered, so suspicious I began doing some research. I googled "how to spot a fake NHL RBK" and have been browsing on here for the last hour. Needless to say, I am pretty much certain it is a fake. It's not a terrible one, but it's still fake.
I suppose the only positive here is that I know him well enough to confront him in person regarding the issue and demand my money back as he mislead me ensuring me it was authentic, and not this knock off crap. So my question, how would you guys recommend approaching this? I am going to ask him first who he got it from, without explaining to him that I know. If he is wishy-washy I am going to call him out on it and demand my money back, BUT, since I am close to him, I want to know if there are any legal implications I can threaten him with (report him to ______ for selling fakes as authentics, etc)
I suppose when you buy on ebay or craigslist, you don't have the luxury of knowing who the person is, and where they live, so I suppose I can use this to my advantage. Maybe he really didn't know and is being tricked by someone else, either way, I'd rather save the $400 and get a real jersey.
