  1. Meigray Expo 2018

Thanks for the excellent reply, you definitely shared some info that I would not be aware of. Most of the expos that I've been to typically have more space than necessary, which usually allows for the use of racks in addition to tables. I think at the last Toledo expo, I had 4 jerseys laid out on a table and ~20 on a rack... 2 people looked at the jerseys on the table, and probably 20 rummaged through the racks. My lack of folding skills really deter me from looking at folded shirts as well Also, you are completely correct that racks can be a total pain to install and fit into a vehicle that already has tubs of jerseys!
  2. Meigray Expo 2018

Honestly, I don't mind. If its something worth under $1k, I'll put it out on a rack. As I mentioned, maybe its just the difference of the Meigray Expo, but most if not all other people at other Expos are collectors who know how to handle these things. And really, what is likely to happen? If there's loose threads, a glued letter or other things that could be damaged, obviously it wouldn't be put out but otherwise, consider what these jerseys go through in a given year.
  3. Meigray Expo 2018

Appreciate the write-up, its fun to see other people's takes. Never been able to make the timing work, and is one of the few that I haven't hit yet. One comment/thought on the table display, it looks nice, but I'm a much bigger fan of the rack approach. Maybe the Meigray Expo is more "random" than some of the other expos that I've been to, but the folded jersey table always gave me the opinion that the exhibitor does not want anyone touching their items (due to the hassle of refolding). Putting jerseys on a clothing rack (while potentially more cumbersome), allows people to look with much more detail and enjoyment. From my personal experiences, collectors will physically handle jerseys on a rack, while just passing over jerseys laying on a table. Just my 2 cents, just sharing my opinions/experiences from the various expos.
  4. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

Whats funny is that I reach out on various shirts for friends, and yet I don't think I've ever pulled that expression unless I'm at a point of buying the shirt and waiting on confirmation from them. But by that point, I already know what their price-point and focus are, rather than "jim bob's never owned a gamer and cant make up his mind what to buy but is really really going to buy something, honest".
  5. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

I'd actually allow it as its close enough to being game-worn, but my favorite part was the " Who was it worn by? Any photo matches? " questions. At least its better than the "$500 jersey in the $200 or less Group" or those sweet Pokemon cards.

False. Devilsguy said he was disgusted by it... Homer was not disgusted by the McRibwich Frog.

  8. Who sells/auctions Blackhawks GW Jerseys?

They sell one jersey per player (of various sets & colors) via silent & live auction at the convention. This helps sets the pricing for the team for the remaining jerseys, which the team releases in waves (again, typically one per player of various set/color) on gameworn.net and the various Facebook groups. PS. Don't bother bidding on the auctions at the Convention, you'd be better off not running the price up (and very likely losing) but rather waiting for one of the remaining to pop-up on FB.

If it makes it easier, at least some mid-season additions used green twill for the nameplate in 94/95.
  10. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

Consider in the grand-scheme, how few SCF shirts surface on resale... you either buy it or likely never see it again. I only recall seeing 1 Predators SCF shirt in the FB groups since last year.
  11. The Current Situation of the Secondary Market

I have no say, but as one who does dabble in the random "decent NHLer's minor league shirts"... one reason why I'd not even consider spending that much on that era Springfield Falcons is that its a direct copy of the Columbus Blue Jackets. If it was one of the alternate styles that were not a copy of the CBJ shirts, I bet it would have moved way faster. About 5-6 players that I "would" collect have passed through Springfield and the only one that I actually did pick up was when I got it for $100. Not because I'm a cheap-skate, but because the style is SO bland. --- That being said, as people have mentioned above, non;leaguewide superstar calibre player jerseys are almost at a commodity level now, between the number of sets and the number of years guys play. Unless there's a patch or its really cheap, I think most people are fine waiting it out. This is one reason I enjoy the minor league stuff, the large majority is 1-of-1 stuff. A player may have one of each color plus a couple specialties, but you can literally be the ONLY person to own that team/color/player combo in a gamer (combined with the fact that most teams don't sell blank Authentics/TI shirts). On the NHL side, there's players I would like to have, but when its not "1-of-1" type scarcity, I'm simply willing to wait it out knowing that after this season, player X will likely wear 4-6 shirts this year, then another 4-6 next year, for the next "N" years that he plays. That becomes A LOT of shirts, and in some cases, there's not enough demand from a team's collectors, let alone the guys who collect league-wide (who's collecting 'wants' are likely of a wider gamut as well).

    You're welcome
  13. It arrived today v. 8.0

Did they really use that "C" with Tommahawks? Seemed they always wore a different style "C" that was never found on replica jerseys.
  14. eBay version 4.0

Depending on how value, I bet he would have countered between $350-375.
  15. eBay version 4.0

My exact experience as well. Half-tempted to start blocking those people and put a disclaimer as well.
  16. eBay version 4.0

Speaking of annoying ebay stuff, as a seller with "Best Offer" enabled, I am tired of the "what is your best price?".... like seriously, are you so insecure about submitting an offer that you won't even try? Throw a number down, as even if I have a "best price" of $100, if you offer $95, I'll probably just suck it up and accept the offer.
  17. eBay version 4.0

You can always block the guy as a bidder and I don't think he can send you a message going forward. My guess is he is a first time seller and therefore ebay/Paypal hold the funds for around a month to ensure the item arrived and the buyer leaves positive feedback.
  18. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

Locally, I know of at least 2 people "hiding" the scale of their collections. One won't let me deliver a jersey to them if their wife is going with to the game, and the other made their jersey album on FB private so the wife wouldn't see it. (Appropriate reference at the 20s mark) Mine, thankfully, comes with me to equipment sales and helps me grab stuff. She's a keeper!

  20. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

I'm agreeing with this logic too, at lot of my higher end ($500-1k) stuff, I rather message people I know and offer it rather than deal with the above. Likewise, being a no-nonsense person also means that some people will do the same to you because they know you'll give a black & white answer... they may not get a sale, but they know that they aren't going to deal with the "man, I would but my car broke and I gotta ask my wife, but I won't respond again after this" nutjobs.
  21. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

Because a reply could be 50 players long, and depending on year/color/patch/etc, one may impulsively purchase a jersey that wasn't on said list. I had someone ask me the same question from the team I collect when I asked what they had for sale. If they only provided photos of the 1 jersey that had from the 6 players that I asked about, I would not have bought 10 jerseys from them in that transaction.
  22. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

I'm going to flip a recent auction acquisition and comment how it previously sold on auction for $7800! I'm also going to prevent anyone from commenting about it because I paid significantly less than that in the recent auction... oh, someone commented before i could disable comments? I better delete my post. Ross is a tool, don't be like Ross. (That Ross, not the one from here )
  23. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

Yeah, he's pretty busy with other stuff and only gets on FB a couple times per month. Great guy though, maybe the lack of time on FB contributes to that

Interesting, never even thought to look, but you're right. Mine is dated 2015.
  25. It arrived today v. 8.0

Pretty sure the Wrigley game-worns were Edge 2.0s, but the Authentic 2.0s are pretty rare in that style.
