    New arrivals v5.0

Beautiful Coffey- you got your original patches, too!
  2. You may already have realized this, but if you're planning to do up a 1.0 jersey as a 2010-11 model, you will face a dilemma that's been handed to us ever since Reebok decided to sell retail authentics that are not the same as the on-ice jerseys. No matter what plate material you use, it's still not completely accurate because you're already starting with a jersey that's made of a different material and has a different cut than what the players use. Most Edge jerseys have large back panels made of spandex-containing mesh material. The nameplates usually go on top of the back panel and are frequently made of the same mesh material. Penguins home and away Edge jerseys are cut differently- the shoulder panels extend farther down than usual, so the nameplate actually covers the shoulder panels and only barely touches the mesh back panel. On the 2.0's the shoulder panels are air-knit, and on 1.0's they are the water-resistant x-trafil material. The nameplates on the Penguins home and away 2.0's are air-knit to match the underlying air-knit material, and I believe that likewise, on the 1.0's (only used on-ice in 2007-08) the nameplates are matching x-trafil. So what nameplate material do you put on your 1.0 if you want to duplicate a 2008-11 home or away jersey? If you put air-knit, it doesn't match the x-trafil. If you can find an x-trafil plate, it matches but it's not what's used on-ice. On the 3rd jersey, the shoulder panel is much smaller and has a straight border, and the nameplate goes below that onto the mesh material, so to match that, you need a mesh plate. But again, your 1.0 3rd isn't the same material as the on-ice 2.0 3rds anyway. So my whole point here is that if you're customizing a 1.0 into a 2008-11 jersey, it's probably pointless to worry about exact details. Even trying to get x-trafil or mesh material for plates is difficult, since many customizers don't have it. This hobby can be a pain in the butt sometimes.
  3. For which specific year are you getting your jersey customized? Also what model- home/away, or alternate/WC?

    New arrivals v5.0

This is just a guess, but if the jersey is legit, I would think it would have to be from the 1991-92 preseason. Dominik Hasek wore #34 in 1990-91, but switched to 31 in 1991-92. Russell wore 52 when he was with the Hawks in 1990-91, but spent most of 1991-92 with Indianapolis. During the 1991-92 season the Hawks got Tony Horacek from Philadelphia, and he used #34 during his next few seasons with the Hawks. I suppose it's possible that Russell used 34 during the 1991 preseason (Horacek wasn't a Hawk yet), but when Russell was later called up from Indianapolis, he couldn't use 34 because it may have been already issued to Horacek. Russell went on to use #8 for many seasons, so there would be no reason to use 34 or any other number after 1992. Is there any evidence of numbers/nameplate change or ASG patch removal on the jersey?

    The EDGE 2.0 thread

For me, it's still good to know that a 50 is available. Until now I thought a 52 would be the smallest you could get in a team-issued 2.0 (too big for me).

That seems strange to me; I'm 5'9" and 150 and I can barely fit in a 46 1.0, it's way too tight. I prefer a size 50. I can wear a 46 2.0, though (just barely), as the 2.0's are roomier.

    They actually had non-ASG size 46 2.0's?? That's amazing.

The 2011/12 retail authentics are not made in Canada, so that is a mistake, I'm sure. Actually at the beginning of the season there were retail made-in-Canada 2.0's available, but only for the Winnipeg Jets, and those are pretty much gone now. If you buy a 2010-11 blank authentic it will be a 1.0 and have the vector, but depending on the team, you will be buying a jersey that was made as far back as 2007. I doubt Reebok was actually producing many (if any) 1.0's recently. Except for the overstock/clearance sale by SVP (which is being discussed in another thread), you cannot order team-issued, new 2.0's from retailers like Jersey Express. You can only find special-event 2.0's like All-Star Game authentics, which were made available to the public. You can only buy team-issued 2.0's through the teams (if they sell them), by buying a gamer, or from a collector/seller who previously got them by one of the aforementioned methods.

    A piece of crap, basically.

The neck tags of 1.0's and 2.0's all say 7187, so that's not going to be of much help. So if you're buying a jersey that has no sleeve tags, look at the wash tag inside. On 1.0's the first material listed is X-trafil. On 2.0's it's Air-knit. For a regular team jersey that's size 46 like yours, it's a sure bet it's a 1.0, because 2.0's are issued only to players, and none of them wears a jersey that small.

Did Truman do the entire Hrudey kit or just parts of it? I like the letters but I thought his '91-92 kits looked different than that.

    Ebay 2.0

Notice how the condition goes from "used" to "NWOT, mint, never used." Lol.
  13. The first one looks like crap. The ones you have with the white border look authentic.

    Flyers Font

If you have an older Phantoms (around 2008), then I think Ruberti's is the place to go for the right font(s) and the correct nameplate material.
  15. They are really tough to find; I've been looking for one myself. There was one on eBay a while back but unfortunately it came attached to a replica jersey- the jersey went for higher than the patch was worth to me, so I didn't bid on it. EDIT: Gamer/RCS
  16. The picture they show is of a replica. The original does not have such prominent horizontal lines on the "KINGS" logo. The purple color is a slightly different shade, and the left and right borders of the patches are cut differently (there should not be a notch around the number "2").
  17. The site looks BS. They're obviously using stock photos, so you can't go by that, but there are plenty of clues if you just peruse the site. Their English is terrible (just look at the "About Us" section, for example). There's no address given anywhere, as far as I can tell. Visa credit cards are accepted through "YeePay," so there's a big clue where the payments are going to. And of course they were nice enough to offer a size 48...

I just love wavy flag patterns on jerseys... Nice!!
  19. I've never had EPS do just the stitching, so I can't help you regarding the price, but just FYI, Gameday and EPS use very different stitch patterns. EPS's stitches are much finer and smaller (more stitches per inch), so I would ask them to try to match the stitch size on the Gameday kit, otherwise you'll have 2 different stitch sizes on the numbers and letters.
  20. That really blows. If people who are in this business for a living can't see what's wrong, then maybe they shouldn't even be in this business.
  21. Puts a smile on my face every time I see that!
  22. No, 7231 is the code for the Indonesian-made Edges. The codes for Canadian-made Edges are 7187 for the 1.0 model, and 7287 for the 2.0.
