  1. It's hard to be sure because the details are not that clear in the picture you provided, but the back material appears to have the same texture as that of a Reebok Premier jersey.  I would guess it's more likely than not to be a legit Premier with an inaccurate lettering job.  (Plenty of legit jerseys have bad lettering jobs, so as someone above wisely said, it doesn't necessarily mean the jersey is fake.)  If you provide pictures of the rest of the jersey, including the neck tagging, we can easily tell you whether it's legit or not.

I heard EPS was trying to take over the contract for many teams and they were doing many of the event jerseys for the Hawks.

This particular case, I’m sure, had nothing to do with EPS doing event jerseys specifically for Chicago.  For a long time EPS has lettered ALL the team jerseys for the Skills Competitions at the All-Star games.  For teams like LA and Boston, whose lettering is almost never duplicated 100% accurately by companies other than the team customizers, you can see that the kits are noticeably off on the player jerseys, and look exactly like what you would get if you sent an identical jersey to EPS for customizing.

    I bought a Blackhawks Keith jersey because I couldn't resist :D

I’m assuming you bought the one with MeiGray serial # H06328.

That jersey was prepared for use in the Skills Competition at the 2011 All-Star Game.  Both red and white jerseys were issued for Keith, who wore the red one in the competitions, so the white one remained unused, so it should be considered “event-issued.”  I believe EPS would have lettered those, so look carefully at the lettering, and there will be slight differences from the on-ice ones lettered by CSL.  The E in Keith will have a center post that’s a bit too long, and the stitching should be extremely tight, with a stitch length that is ever so slightly shorter than what CSL does.

That’s the first thing I noticed when I joined the Discord, lol.  There are some surprisingly cool jerseys posted there though.

Thanks! I believe Keener did that one.

Thanks for the reply!  The lettering looks almost exactly like the Lemieux (replica) I recently got back from EPS.  I had to go to painstaking effort to get the letters to look like the 95/96 on-ice font, as EPS’ default font for the gradient alt is the 1998 and later font.

I've tried searching through the forum but I haven't had any luck. I know there was a discussion about when the Penguins made the change from airknit nameplates to Edge material on the 2.0s. When did that happen? I've got a couple of TIs that I want to send off and I'm sure it'll be less expensive if I don't have to source Edge plates for them.

I remember them switching to Edge plates for the 2016 playoffs.  These continued through the next season, until the 2017 playoffs (essentially the end of the Edge era.)  I don’t remember if they used Edge plates at any other time earlier in the 2.0 era.

  7. On CCM Center Ice jerseys (post-1990 retails), the Cosby tag in the neck area just means that they lettered the jersey, and/or sold it from their NY store.  There are obviously tons of other Rangers jerseys sold or lettered elsewhere, which would not have the Cosby tag on them, so the absence of the tag really has no relevance to the legitimacy of the jersey.

Gerry Cosby lettered the game worn Rangers jerseys for decades, so you will also see the Cosby tag on gamers, going WAY back.

My best guess is that there were two jerseys of the main colour and one of the opposite made for each player. IE: Pacific players would have two blue jerseys (one for the SF and one for the final) and one white jersey, in case they won the first game and had to switch for the final.

That makes sense.  I figured though, if each player from a losing team kept their jerseys, there would be no game worns to auction for those players.  The league might have made considerably more money if they could have sold at least one game worn (as opposed to GI only) for players like McDavid and Draisatl, by switching jerseys at the halfway point of the game.  I can’t remember if all the Pacific Division player jerseys auctioned were only game-issued; I remember seeing some game worns offered but do not remember if those were only for the 2 divisions that played in the Final.  Wish I’d kept a link to the auctions.

  9. Very nice!  I think the ASG jerseys looked very sharp this year.

Did you happen to hear anything about whether the players switched to a new set at the 10 minute mark of each one period game?  I.e., were 2 jerseys of each color actually worn in each contest?  Supposedly this was done at the previous ASG, but I have never been able to figure out which part of the game my gamer was used because Fanatics has such poor documentation- the info in the original auction and the website authentication page seem to conflict with each other, and no COA’s at all were given.

If anybody is still looking here… anyone have any luck/ideas on how to remove acetone stains? I stripped a jersey but there’s clearly some residue toward the outside of what I stripped. Tried rubbing it with more acetone and ran it through the wash twice. No luck

If the stain is from the acetone, then washing the jersey after the original acetone has already dried and set doesn’t seem to work, at least for me.  What I’ve done is to hold the jersey under a faucet, wet the affected area with cold water, then apply a fairly generous amount of acetone, rub the wettened affected areas together for a few seconds, and then immediately rinse thoroughly with cold water BEFORE the acetone dries.  You may have to repeat this, and you may end up getting a large portion of the jersey wet.  After rinsing out all the acetone, hang dry.  This has worked for me many times.

If you have a small block Hawks home or away please shoot me a PM

Maybe a dumb question, but doesn’t the jersey you’re looking for have to be the same color as the one you already have?  The shoulder patches won’t match with the opposite color jersey.

  12. I don’t recall any authentics ever being originally sold at retail.  Jersey Baron did sell some retail 2.0’s of that model, but they were not made until years after the original game was played.  Those are extremely hard to find, as I think he was the only source of them.

If you want a replica, those were not made in the regular Premier cut, but rather the more boxy 550 cut, and they look like this one:

These appear on eBay quite frequently.

  13. It seems to me that if the Reddit subgroup doesn’t buy this forum, it’s all over and you’ll be permanently out of here either way.  Is it really better to let this group die completely, or hope that they can at least keep all the information here going somehow?

I’ve been a member there for 2+ years now, and while the overall knowledge level there is not quite what it is here, I’d still say it’s better than nothing.

Ugh. You’re right. Now I remember. I should have sent this jersey in 10 years ago so I’d get it back by the end of 2021.
    Thank you.

Actually now might be a good time to send it in; they don’t have much to do right now.  Maybe you’ll get it back in 5 years instead of 10.

‘93 they switch to the dirty pigeon, BUT still market the crap out of the old design **with newer 'CCM' collar tags, and **newer Pens font worn on '93 jerseys

Soooo many Lemieux's, Jagr's....Penguins players on '92 jerseys with wrong neck tag and '93 font

I noticed that about a lot of the post-‘92 old design jerseys- they also have hem stripes that are the wrong thickness.

    Looking for

Authentic NHL 2000 patch for Colorado Avalanche.

There are quite a few of those on eBay right now.  I counted at least 4 burgundy ones that looked like originals to me.  Avoid the ones from ice_hockey_patches, those are reproductions.
