  1. It arrived today v. 8.0

Bring that up to the masses who love fakes and they just laugh at that.

This is huge too. We live very much in an insta-grat society where the mere concept of saving now for something better later is alien to far too many people.

I have largely been trying to not get bent out of shape about this particular thing over the past 6-12 months (with mixed success). However it does flare up when I try to sell (especially on FB and since you are not on there I think that shields you from this sort of nonsense) and I get a possible buyer who asks questions, is interested and then when it comes time to pay you get the old "I can't afford it right now" routine. This often happens when the same person is posting pictures of him or herself on FB with them at a game recently in a lower level ticket and holding a $13 beer and $16 chicken tenders after paying $30 to park right outside the arena. The other time this flares up is when the discussion of fakes comes up and you always have the people who are acting like the cost of the jersey will literally make them destitute. I just try my best to avoid conversing about fakes in the FB groups now (and again with mixed results). I have zero problems with people telling me they would rather spend their money on beer and tickets than jerseys. That's 100% fine. I would rather have these people tell me that giving me the poverty spiel.

Yup agree. While sometimes annoying, I don't have any particular hatred towards flippers. I mean I do it too and I think a lot of collectors do it as well (even the ones who say they don't often do).

I don't think the markup argument is the issue. It's the fact that these same people see a $130 Fanatics replica and say "I don't have that kind of money!" and cry poverty how they have kids/cars/housing they have to pay for. However, at the same time they are crying about $130 they managed to squeeze together to find 4 tickets to a game, 2-3 beers for the dad, chicken tenders and fries for all 4, parking, etc that is often more than what the jersey cost. I know everyone has different priorities, but at least come out and say "I don't want to spend that kind of money on a jersey" rather than the old cry poverty and say "But I don't have money to spend on a jersey!"
  6. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

It was in a post related to where someone was selling an item and their asking price was significantly higher than what the seller recently paid for it. Yeah the follow up and courtesy is an issue. I can't begin to count the number of times people ask me all sorts of questions about an item I am selling only to disappear and never receive a thanks or anything. I think that is more societal than specific to the hobby.
  7. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

So I see more and more posts in the groups along the lines of "Greed is killing this hobby." Are others feeling the same way too? TBH I wish there was more greed in this hobby as it would make some of my sales quicker lol.

More like 99% of people. At the arena I have seen tons of fakes, legit replicas and authentics with beyond terrible customization (including screened customization), and stuff that is off the rack from the team store or from online outlets. The number of people who have MiC/team issued/game worn jerseys are the arena are very few and far between. Most people have 1 or maybe 2 jerseys they wear for many years at the jersey and that's it. They really don't care what it looks like as long as it somewhat resembles what the team wears. It is good enough for them. I have also seen plenty of people buy fakes with full knowledge they are knockoffs. All these people care about is price and believe me there are far many more of them than they are of us who care about what our jerseys look like.
  9. It arrived today v. 8.0

The market for the MiC ones are still pretty tiny compared to the other jerseys. Plus with the better materials it might be cost prohibitive for them to even make enough for retail sale given the tiny market.
  10. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

If it wasn't for the fact that I have much better luck of selling my jerseys on FB than I do on eBay or in forums I would have left at least 2/3 of the facebook groups I am in now. To be fair, I haven't seen a Jake Marty thread/post in a bit, but I might not be paying much attention to it.
  11. It arrived today v. 8.0

Why should they? They can easily claim they didn't see your tweet and quite frankly 99% of the fans do not care. They are marketing to largely the same people who think knockoffs look just as good or even better than the official ones.
  12. It arrived today v. 8.0

A ton of fans believe otherwise as that's how Adidas is marketing/positioning these. lol just last week a guy in a Devils fan group erroneously claimed that they are the same as what the players wore on the ice. When I said they are not, he proceeded to claim that I was "breaking his balls", curse me out and then block me. Oh and then he continued to publicly bash me after he blocked me as well lol. Last time I give jersey advice in there until I forget as I am a glutton for punishment lol.
  13. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

Tight lol. I haven't seen it yet. The video said Meigray might be showing off this jersey at some point so I will wait for that.
  14. *Dumb Question Alert* Re: Facebook Groups

I see that guy post here and there and from what I remember he does seem to have some nice stuff. However through the constant din that goes on in that group I barely see his posts in there (though he might just not be posting much at all). The Sittler jersey is awesome. I read the article when it came out and finally got around to watching the news video yesterday. I would much rather see that than people arguing/crying over what other collectors are allowed/not allowed to collect.

The Bruins practice jersey? Hopefully and soon enough the hobby moves away from FB and back to forums again.
