    eBay version 4.0

While rare that price is still a bit of a stretch, even for a player like Dino Also someone posted on FB a while back ads for those Tampa storm jerseys from about 2000ish for the game worn jerseys. IIRC, most of them were in the $300-500 range too.
  2. For the past 2-3 years Meigray didn't announce the terms of the summer sale until about 24-48 hours before the expo. Expect the same again this year. Also the summer sale typically is the same as the most recent previous holiday sale. If Meigray follows that pattern again, that means no more BOGO and all jerseys 13-14 and previous will only be 35% off.
  3. Got this in yesterday and finally got to posting it now. Got the 2015-16 Travis Zajac Retro Night game worn jersey that I won on Thursday on NHL Auctions. Was worn in the 2 games this year that the Devils wore their retro jerseys and actually has some wear to it. Has one small to medium size hole on one sleeve and two small holes on the other sleeve. Also has a large black mark on the back 9 that I photomatched to a couple of pictures on nj.com. Happy to finally own a retro night Devils that I can photomatch.

Back in March of 2010 I got a brodeur retro jersey at the NHL store in Manhattan when those retros first came out. I wanted one quickly done so I could wear it to the first retro night and at the time those jerseys were hard to find in stores due to them being snatched up quickly (I'm talking about the CCM Team Classics line of replicas they still sell today). I had it customized there as brodeur and they hear pressed it on. However the lettering was all twill and the two layers were indeed stitched together. Not only that but around each letter/number on the bottom green later they put a layer of stitching so when it was pressed it literally looked like it was sewn on. At first glance you really couldn't tell that it was pressed. It was only when you looked at it for a little bit and noticed the lettering was stiff from the heat press process and you turn it inside out and see not stitching that you could tell. I was impressed quite frankly. It later started peeling about 6 months later so I went back and had it re-pressed. I then sold it a few months later.
  5. Hahahahaha. That hits very close to home.
  6. Lol. My collection is mostly either wife pleasers or ghost jerseys. Ghost jerseys (n) - A jersey you spent decent to a lot of money on that you hide from your significant other as if he/she does you would get the third degree for spending more money on clothes than he/she does.
  7. Isn't everything men in relationships buy technically wife pleasers? .......I'll just show myself out now.
  8. While I have never been a fan of any Carolina jersey, getting a first year/first game jersey and from an important player from the organization is always cool. Congrats!

It's just as easy to shill bid on other websites like I mentioned. Hell NHL auctions removed the names of other bidders over the summer so now you have no idea who is bidding or if it's even the same person.

On eBay yes, on other auction sites, not so much. This goes double when there are auction houses that not only allowed shill bidding by the sellers, but acknowledge it and defend it. Buyer gets screwed more often than not. Back to the Phantoms jersey issue, I still can't understand why anyone would bid on this stuff if done through eBay as well as teams doing it through eBay. The fees associated with it can't be much different than through NHL auctions which has done many minors auctions before.

Even in fair auctions the buyer gets screwed by paying more than the value of the item. Yes no one is putting a gun to their heads to bid, but in the end in auctions often the buyer does get screwed in some way.

You should see the number of complaints people have in regards to the quality of the heat-pressed from what I see in a lot of Devils FB groups and online forums. Many of them have their letters/numbers peeling within 2-3 months. People want stitching, but they don't want to wait even 2 weeks for even a decent stitch job. It's the generation we live in where instant gratification trumps quality. I'll take my EPS 8-12 week wait over a 15-minute rushed heat pressed garbage job.

Not saying sellers are dishonest, but auctioning off these kinds of stuff usually ends with the buyers being screwed somehow. As long as teams/leagues make money they couldn't care less so that's how things are going to be.

You can thank the NHL and the majority of the NHL teams and their team stores for that. For the sake of pumping out jerseys to people who are only at the arena for the game and want a jersey before the end of the game, they resort to heat-pressed garbage. This is one of the main reasons I hear when people defend knockoffs by that they are at least stitched (which I cannot argue with them on that) and they don't use plastic letters/numbers. Oh and as a kicker the Devils raised the price of the heat-pressed customization last year from about $30 to $65 now. Also partly to blame are the fans and especially the insta-grat crowd. For example, when Smith-Pelly was traded to the Devils this season, when people asked the day of the trade where they can get his jersey they balked at the idea of sending it out to IJ or sportsk for customization with a 2-week turnaround (I didn't bother mentioning EPS as the wait time would have had them upset). Literally the responses I got to the 2-week turnaround for a fully-stitched jersey was "why does it even take that long? It should only take 20-30 minutes!" These people literally wanted the jersey THAT day. Can't help those people and they are a growing crowd.

They do (for the buyers usually) and I am glad we agree.

Like I have said in the past, this is another reason why auctioning off gamers sucks.
  17. I agree. Also you might find this amusing, but there is actually an entire episode of GW Radio devoted to the term grail. It happened after one of the commentators on the show posted a large post railing against the use of the term grail by some collectors who seem to have dozens of grails. http://gameworn.us/game-worn-radio-the-grail-thread-social-media/
  18. Sorry I misunderstood/didn't catch that part
  19. You can also count the scouts. If you want a good listing of the NHL CCM vintage replica line, go to this link: http://www.sportsk.com/vintage-nhl-hockey-jerseys.html
  20. Nice on the black river rats! Eventually I will have to snag one of the GI to complete my Lou veto jersey collection.

I also know a lot of my AHL gamers have those "center ice" type taggings on them too. Also as an update to my issue, the guy actually went to the PO yesterday and he talked to the supervisor there who was able to track down the carrier and was able to give him his jersey. So it ended well as the rightful person got the jersey. Yay!

OK Update. The buyer said he has no problem with going over to the post office tomorrow to pick up the package. He said its 10 min by car away from his house and that actually works out well for him. He will let me know the outcome of it as well. Right now, potential issue/crisis averted.
