I know this is way off topic considering this is a Hockey forum, but is anyone knowledgeable about NFL jerseys?  I'm need to get a new Cowboys jersey before the season starts and found this on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nike-Limited-Vapor-Authentic-Dallas-Cowboys-Dak-Prescott-Jersey-L/122637852511?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I know football jerseys are faked as much as hockey jerseys so I want to make sure it's good if I submit an offer.

That's one of the premier ones. It's legit. The fakes are usually number sized and premier ones are letter sized.

Alright, I may have bought a bad jersey on eBay last night.  I have excuses - I just got done playing 18, I was making supper, and Game of Thrones was coming on.

So, I sold my Wild Wing jersey a few months ago, and I came across one last night right when I opened my eBay app.  It looked good at first and it was listed for cheap, so I pressed the buy-it-now.  Well, I look at it today, and I notice it has a weird CCM logo on the back. I have had a few in the past and everyone has the embroidered teal with white letters in the Big Block font - the one I just ordered has a white with teal back, it looks to be embroidered, but I'm not sure.  Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Paul-Kariya-Size-XL-Anaheim-Mighty-Ducks-Wild-Wing-CCM-Jersey-/292229448383?hash=item440a3b82bf%3Ag%3AHecAAOSwtS1Zo0YT&nma=true&si=DlBycuc%2BfOa3R0NgfB2AxO03YDI%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Did I shite the bed on this one?

So I was interested in this one but it's kinda all over the place.

Shouldn't it be Air-Knit and small block?

It looks like a legit Ultrafil but wondering if anyone can give a little insight

Thanks

It looks legit, but you are correct about the originals being airknit and with the small block logo.  This one must be a remake- it has the flat button fight strap which you don't usually see on CCM's until around 1991.

It just seems odd that they would do a re-make 3yrs after the original

Perhaps it was a prototype that was made to look like a late 80's

I've seen a few other anachronistic CCM authentic jerseys that were definitely made after the jersey design was retired, like a Kings 80's purple and gold with the big block logo, an early 90's Penguins with tagging used only after 1993, and with a different stripe pattern than the original.  You just have to keep your eyes open for these little details, like you did here.  But those must have been remakes because they featured elements that did not exist at the time of the original jersey.

I thought I was high falootin' when I dropped 'Perhaps' but I have been bested with "anachronistic"

I gotta step up my game and try to work in a Quijebo or Festizio next time.

Thanks LAK74

Wondering about the "3" on the back of this jersey. Specifically, how the top arm of the 3 is connected to the middle arm. Owner doesn't know who did the customizing.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Minnesota-North-Stars-Brian-Bellows-Authentic-1980s-Pro-Jersey-sz-48/282626281789?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Other examples on gameworn appear to have the arms of the 3 separated.

I think you have your answer on the customizing. This Bellows is different, too. http://www.gamewornauctions.net/products/1986_87_Brian_Bellows_Minnesota_North_Stars_Game_Worn_Jersey-7199-171.html

I *think* it should have different neck tagging, but I'm not positive. I know that jersey has been up for a while - maybe someone else can chime in.

Thx. I think I do, too.

The weird thing about that one on eBay is that the 'N' does not have the black outline stitch. As far as I can tell, once they added the black to their jerseys, the black outline should have been added. There is something wrong about that jersey, plus it's way overpriced anyway. A better one will come along.

Ah!  That was the detail I was trying to remember.   I knew this one had come up before...

Nice catch! I'm not pursuing this one, just trying to get a handle on what I'm looking at. Apparently it takes 3 sets of eyes!

Not sure if you're posting to ask or to demonstrate some major flaw that I've missed.

If it's a retail authentic (hang tags would indicate it is) shouldn't it have a fabric centre ice tag in neck?

otherwise... (disclaimer - not a leafs expert) shouldn't it have an NHL 75th Anni patch on right chest (if 91-92), fonts look ok to me (but am on phone), can't see elbow reinforcing in pics (on phone), it's a 48 (nooooo!), display of jersey could be improved (throw back bed covers and lay it down ??? !!! ermagerdh).

That looks like a 1990/91 model.  (Or possibly early 1990)  The fight strap looks like it has the rounded buttons which were discontinued starting with the 1991/92 models, which would also explain the lack of NHL 75th patch.  The 90/91's also tended to have only the Maska ultrafil tag in the center of the neck (with the size written in pen on the tag), and not that small square size tag to the left of the Maska tag, which you tend to see in 91/92's and later.  Most of the retail CCM's before 1991 did not have the Center Ice tag either.

*tips cap* thank you for the input and improved detail/clarification.

Just wondering if it's any good and worth the asking price

Forgot to mention price. I'd be thinking it was a bit on the high side. Having said that I'm not sure how rare it is (despite what the description says) or how much you want it which also plays into the equation. This style is probably my favourite Leafs jersey, but I wouldn't go that high for it. Closer to $300 USD and I'd think about biting. I would defer to others on this matter though. Hopefully @TMLFAN or another Leafs specialist will chime in.

edit - I've paid more than this for a similar era jersey but it was something I'd been chasing for decades and jumped in. Not a rational decision by any stretch.

Ok I'll chime in.

the jersey has the big block ccm and shield which would make it either a 90-91 or 91-92.  Since there is no 75th patch and the assistant captains A that would mean it's a 90-91 as Clark became captain starting in 91-92.

the customization is good except for the 7's.

price wise, it's high, but finding this era jersey in brand new condition with the tags is next to impossible so there is a premium that can be asked.  If I was selling I would ask $400 cdn.
