OR68
The stain with the crumbled certificate makes a good pair.
NYIJM29
Probably a consignment. They probably cannot reissue the loa because of the hologram sticker. Which is ridiculous.
amonte78
OH! Nevermind, I'm blind. He's talking about the gigantic stain that I somehow didn't see. Ignore me, I'll go home because I'm clearly drunk.

Robert Ullman
Apologies if this has been covered previously, but...has anyone tried to strip a Cool Base jersey? It seems like it'd be a snagfest, but I figured it was worth an ask...

OR68
A few new additions Home Sabathia (Just need to add the 09 patches) Cano BP Jersey Mussina BP
DropkickMurphy8
I've never been a fan of the CoolBase BP's, the earlier Majestic's (the Moose) were much nicer IMO. Did the Sabathia come from eBay?
OR68
The sabathia didn't come from eBay. It was a blank I had done up. I got a bunch more I need to get done. The bp style of the Mussina is my favorite bp jersey.
DropkickMurphy8
Not a jersey-related post, but I felt like posting anyway because today was absolutely insane. Mariano Rivera Day in The Bronx. Just being there to send off the greatest relief pitcher in the history of the game was something special, but knowing the way the Yankees do a retirement party, I was expecting either Metallica or Mo's number being retired. They managed to pull off both. What a great day to be a part of, Andy's last home start and Mo's retirement party. Even though they lost, I'll never forget September 22nd, 2013 because I get to say for as long as I'm alive that I was part of history, I was in the building the day the Yankees retired a legend's number. And now I need four more jerseys - a road Mo with the ASG patch and the stars on the back, a Mo ASG BP, a home Pettitte with the Mariano patch and a Mariano with the patch. Just when I thought I was gonna be able to slowly migrate my way out of the hobby, the Yankees go and give me more things to buy. Oh well, it'll be worth it to have even more permanent reminders of today.

CJ Matthews
I didn't actually. I was joking. It does make me smile though to know I'm not the only one who would do it. I did see you on the main level near the food court (of course) and almost said hello since your hands were full and I knew you wouldn't drop anything you were carrying to try and hit me

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah not my finest hour. Last time I tried to Sweet Chin Music my door though. CJ Matthews
Yeah I saw that. Nothing like a free baseball game to boot. I got lucky I didn't have to stand in that long Arse line either. I got mine in 3 minutes. It's good to know people.
DropkickMurphy8
Yup. I was gonna go but I was never gonna get there from school in time to snag a bobblehead after driving home and getting on a train. I probably still wouldn't have gotten a voucher. Oh well, would've been nice to have but it's not like I can afford to skip a math class for a bobblehead.
CJ Matthews
It was a madhouse. I got there at 5 and the lines were already into the streets. We had to stand outside for an extra 40 minutes or so and then they were staggering letting people in so the voucher people wouldn't get mobbed. It was the biggest fiasco I've ever seen, and I've got a bad knee now so standing up for an hour plus wasn't my idea of a fun time. I ended up leaving early, around 9. DropkickMurphy8
I saw the pictures in the paper this morning, I'm surprised there wasn't a riot. Makes me glad I didn't have a ticket to stand in that mess. I'm going tomorrow, too bad it's gonna be the first meaningless game in 20 years. Was it me or did Metallica sound like Arse on Sunday too? Maybe it was where I was sitting, I was in 233 right over the speaker cabinet in left field so there really wasn't any projection up there. It was cool to see them regardless but they sounded terrible where I was.
CJ Matthews
It was nuts. I got in and somebody was already being escorted out in cuffs. Not sure if it had anything to do with vouchers or just general douchebaggery, but people were angry all night. By the time I went to leave, the line for bobbleheads started on the first base side, wrapped all the way around under the outfield past monument park, back to the food court on the 3rd base side, where they directed people towards the left field ramp, where you then had to walk up all 3 flights of the ramp to the top level, turn around and walk all the way back down, and go to a table near the left field gate, all to pick up a bobblehead. It was a multi-mile multi-hour line. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with it. Metallica wasn't piped into the sound system, and it was very windy, so in person they sounded like crap and almost sounded like he butchered the lyrics, but I watched it on tv today cause I had it on my DVR and it sounded alright. Not 20 years also, they missed in 08 and it wasn't really close either. I think they're actually closer to being in this year than they were back in 08. I'll be there too. Fingers crossed for Rivera playing center field, though I doubt it happens. He'll definitely pitch though, that's for sure.
DropkickMurphy8
That's absurd, the paper didn't make it sound as bad as it apparently was. I don't understand how the biggest promotion of the year can be so disorganized, they should have gotten the bobbleheads in the day before. It was an off day so they would've had plenty of time to organize and get everything together. Making people walk around the entire stadium for a friggin bobblehead is insane. At least they're giving everybody a free game for the screwup, not that I expect them to be worth seeing next year because of the luxury tax crap and Hal's unwillingness to spend money all of a sudden. I probably won't go to a single game other than Old Timer's day and if Jeter announces it's his last year, I'll go to whatever game they do something for him obviously. I DVR'd the pregame too but I haven't watched it yet. It would've been better if they were piped into the sound system, I didn't notice the wind because I was in the first row with the sun beating on me for an hour and a half before I moved to my seat in the back of the section. I actually got sunburn from sitting there for so long, and my camera shut off a couple times from the sun cooking it so I didn't get pieces of the ceremony that the DVR didn't get because they started late and I had it set to run a half hour longer than it was scheduled. I got all the important parts, the video tribute, Metallica, Mo's speech. Not like I'm ever going to forget it anyway. Mo said he wanted to play center field but it probably won't happen. They were saying on YES earlier that he's gonna pitch, and I can already see the rest of the team pushing him out onto the field at the end of the game to soak up the ovation he's gonna get. CJ Matthews
Yeah the news reports didn't do it justice. ESPN even mentioned it, but no way did they grasp the scope of it. I don't mind them having an off year next year tbh to get under the luxury tax thing because I don't think the free agents are gonna be super fantastic. I would probably say it would make sense to scoop a Red Sox or Mets game next year since if the team is gonna be bad rivalry games are the way to go and surprisingly they didn't black those out. I'll probably pick up the Mets game that the 7 Line doesn't do an outing for so I go to both. You're lucky you were in the sun. I was in the shade and I was freezing. My DVR ran over and erased the ceremony, but they replayed it during the night game replay so I DVR'd that after I cleared out some space, so I watched it today. I think the entire thing is online on MLB/Yanks websites anyway.
DropkickMurphy8
Yeah but the free agent class next offseason is worse. At least this year has guys like McCann, Ellsbury, Pence, Choo, Cruz (who knows what he'll be like next year though) and legit pitching with Lincecum/Halladay/Garza etc. They could make a run at Ells/Pence, McCann who solves the catching problem and puts up 40 HR with that short porch in right, go after Lincecum and maybe Gaza and turn the team around in one offseason. Tex comes back, Jeter comes back, they get a few years younger and have two legit aces with CC and Lincecum and they're instantly a World Series contender if they keep Cano. Next year the only real free agents with any talent are Butler, Hanley and Sandoval, and the market for starting pitching is anorexic. They opened up the checkbooks in 2008 after they missed the playoffs, they kind of have to do it again this year unless they plan on waiting for 2016 and going after Miggy, Wieters and Price, but then what's the incentive for Cano to stay if he's going to be playing on a bad team for two years when he could just as easily get more money from the Dodgers and play for a contender? We'll see, I feel like Hal can't justify getting under the luxury tax if it means having the lowest attendance since '95.
