HockeyMusic Posted June 16, 2012 Report Share Posted June 16, 2012 Personally I don't like Bettman He is trying to jam hockey down the throats of the US viewership and no matter what anyone says (I am sure there are passionate hockey fans as evidenced on these and other forums), there simply isn't enough demand for the sport of hockey in relation to the "big four" major sports. Hockey will always be runner up to basketball, football and baseball no matter how you put it..... Taking away teams from Canadian markets to put them in American markets that do not have enough of a fan base was a dumb move. Move Phoenix to Quebec already! The stronger teams have to share revenue. NBC just threw away billions to showcase hockey. Owners want to create stronger teams, but they also want to make profits. Costs go up, scoring goes down, attendance suffers. Teams move back to lesser markets because the dollars will be there. All of this is done while Gary Bettman has sat on top. I was sad to see Minnesota go.....I still miss the North Stars...I was cheering for them in the '91 SCF....too bad a player with a 66 on his back was just too much for them....
