It's why I always ask them to throw in a bunch of extra letters and even a Captain's C or Alternate A. If I have a player with only 4 letters, such as Jagr, they charge as much as a Vanbiesbrouck, so I ask for an extra 9 random letters to get my money's worth. Hawks2797
This beauty arrived today. This completes my 3 Stanley Cup jerseys from 10, 13, 15. I got real lucky to find this one already properly done up as Kane. I usually don't like to have my jersey autographed but I'm not going to complain on this one! Just need to throw on the 2010 Cup patch when it arrives. Edited January 28, 2018 by Hawks2797

Van67
"Of" in Dutch is "or" in English. When Jan married his wife, they chose to have both family names. We're used to seeing such a name hyphenated, but in The Netherlands, they use the word "of" for this purpose. Hence Vennegoor "or" Hesselink. cheddarberg
Hey everyone! This literally just arrived and I've got some concerns... It's my first ever Nike (Swift) Authentic. As soon a I opened my package, I was blown away at how thin and paper-like (almost like a thin raincoat) this jersey feels. In addition to the actual feel of this thing, I noticed it missing the "IIHF" patch typically located under the "Made In Canada" label on the back of the collar. Secondly, there is no "Nike: Engineered to the exact specifications of professional athletes" label/barcode. Here's the jersey: https://imgur.com/a/EvXgK Edited February 7, 2018 by cheddarberg
Brilliant!
This is what happens when you make hockey jerseys from recycled plastic. Welcome to the world of Nike. Disappointing to the last!
JJM4
I like the look of all 3 Canadian Olympic Sochi Jerseys, but ya the texture of the material is weak and 2010 Olympics is almost worse. I only have the 2 Nike jerseys and the 2010 has barcode, but the 2014 doesn't. The 2014 has the IIHF tag though and price tags of 449.99... for a blank!! I'm not sure if the barcode is for team issued and the lack of barcode is for retail authentics?? Or maybe it was discontinued at some point. The 2010 also didn't require an additional patch where as the 2014 has the Sochi.RU patch that you still need to add. Van67
Authentic Nike Swift jerseys for the Olympics from 2010 and on did not have IIHF tagging on them as the IOC does not allow anything but country identification and Olympic association logos on uniforms. Replicas sold with retailers had IIHF and at least for Canada, national association patches/embroidery, but authentic jerseys did not. (Though perhaps some of the retail authentics had the IIHF neck tag as that's never visible in a game anyway.) I'm sure a lot of us remember Hockey Canada scrambling to make a new uniform for the Olympics in 2010 when the IOC decided to finally enforce their own rules about the matter. As for barcodes, I've never heard a confident answer on what exactly those were for. Some of my authentic IIHF jerseys have them, some don't. Van67
I received the Latvia jersey I snagged on eBay. The inside layer with the belt instead of a fight strap is awkward to say the least. I can imagine the vulgarity players threw Nike's way for them. I'd hate to be wearing this playing and wearing it myself, it's something to get used to. I can see why Nike went to regular fight straps quickly after they created the swift jerseys. That said, it's still a cool and rare addition to the collection. The logo detail is awesome. Very glad Latvija went to an actual logo rather than just a word lol. I'll post more complete pics when I eventually get it customized (which is frankly a zero priority after I broke my "never pay full price" rule last night to get a gem I just could not pass up). Devilsguy
Closed a deal about a week and a half ago and got a jersey in return as part of the deal. Got the jersey in yesterday: Ari Ahonen Albany River Rats black jersey. These were meant for the players to wear as an alternate for a season in the mid 2000's (03-04 I believe) but when Lou found out the team was forced to only wear these on team events (Casino night, meet and greets, etc). A few were also sold in the team store as well from what I have been told. Nice and unique looking jersey but due to it being a 58+ goalie cut the arms are needless to say gigantic Edit: This may have been just a retail version as there is no set tag inside. I have adjusted the description accordingly:) Edited February 23, 2018 by Devilsguy
mfitz804
Badass! I have always loved the black River Rats jerseys. It was the exact concept i had drawn up in 1992 when the Devils changed the green to black, just with a two layer red/white "NJ" crest without the circle. Still think that would have been awesome. As soon as I saw the Rats version, I had to own one just for that reason alone. I can confirm 100% that they were available from the team store as retail authentics, as I purchased one (Skrlac) back in the day. If yours does not have a set tag inside, it may be a retail authentic. I do not recall if they made goalie cuts available at retail. Many years (and several sizes) later, it no longer fit me so I put it up for sale on eBay expecting big bucks. I listed it with a $300 or so Buy It Now, I forget where I started the bidding. A guy opened the bidding and then offered me $160 for it, and I politely declined and decided to let it ride. Big mistake, as it sold for a little more than half of that. I later learned that eBay buyer was none other than our own JoeM7392, who I had become friendly with without realizing he was the guy who won the Rats. But, all was made even when JoeM tipped me off to the availability of another on eBay, in my size. This one was a Suglobov game issued, and it was the filthiest, dirtiest, smelliest jersey I have ever received. Just filthy, all of the white parts were uniformly brown. It took one wash to look good as new, but another 2 to get the funk smell out of it. But it also had to be stripped, the white parts of the twill would not come clean. Having no particular allegiance to any player on the 2003-04 roster, I went ahead and made another Skrlac. As I am certain you are aware, its very unusual to see these up for sale, I am pretty sure its just the one team set and a handful of people who bought them from the team store. So its an excellent pickup, a must for everyone who is going to call themselves a Devils collector, and a great addition to your collection. Brilliant!
At this most-recent MeiGray Expo, Larry Pelliccioni brought a Justin Abdelkader USA Swift jersey to my table asking me if I'd ever seen the style before. He was beyond confused as to why it had a fanny pack strap (I think those were his exact words) inside instead of the fight strap and why the lettering was all heat-pressed. After looking at it and realizing what it was, I explained to him that it was most definitely a first-generation Swift jersey only used for a very brief time in 2006 and they were quite a bizarre change from what we're used to as collectors. I'm not even sure they were even used in the Torino Olympics that year now because MeiGray has a white Rick DiPietro USA from that tournament for sale and it absolutely has the fight strap in the back. Guest Dr_Puck
I really enjoy how those SPs wear, both their ultrafils and airknits. They fit nicely and feel good. Not too many Rats goalies out in the hobby, nice one DevilsGuy.
