So today Tim Thomas was signed to a 4 year $20 million deal. Gotta figure that the Bruins will probably look to trade Manny Fernandez now. Fernandez costs the Bruins 4.3 a year and now Thomas 5 a year. 9.3 million a year tied up in 2 Goaltenders seems like quite a bit to me.

Isn't Fernandez a free agent after the season anyway? I think they made the right move on this one, even if Thomas is getting up there in age. Roloson is still pretty solid and he's in his late 30s. I saw the highlights of him going after Sean Avery, fun stuff.
Next up on my wish list:

1.) CCM Vintage or Semi-Pro Dallas Stars white, circa 1999
2.) Rbk Premier Edmonton Oilers blue and Nashville Predators alternate

They're going to ride him as back-up through the playoffs as an insurance policy in case Thomas gets hurt. But yes, they were both UFAs at the end of this season, and given the contract they just game Thomas, Fernandez is gone after this season. The Bruins have too many contracts expiring at the end of this season or next to be able to afford to keep them all, so if they don't win it all now, I doubt they will in the near future.

Of all teams, I think "is this the year" applies best to Boston because of their tenuous contract situation.

That was my mistake, I for some reason thought that Fernandez had 2 more years or something like that left on his deal with the Bruins.
