Have i just been a neglectful seller over the years or has the ebay final value fees gone up?

I was going to sell a jersey this afternoon for $70CAD
to only find out that i'd be getting charged about $8 in a final value fee! add that to the $1.50 it cost to sell the jersey, i'm losing close to $10 a transaction!

I now see why some sellers try to tip-toe around their fees by outrageous shipping prices.
