If you wanted, I could keep track of that & points.
At the end of the season, the winner would be crowned something along the lines of "..Analyst, or whatever"
Lol, I've done this before and it's really fun.

I'd like to see a sub section in the NHL jersey forum, split up by division, so that fans here can discuss the changes they would like to see on their own teams jerseys, however radical or minute they might be. Just a thought though.

We have now added this in the Hockey Talk section. Stay tuned for more info...

Definitely a possibility, just want to observe the trends in this area to see what will work best.

You seem to be on top of everything Wolf. Better moderation here than on most forums I attend. I know this one's just getting started, but you seem dedicated enough to really keep this place in tip-top shape, unlike the Sabres message boards, which don't even have a real moderator. It's nice to see. I'm sure whatever decisions you and the rest of the admins make will be good for the boards and more than satisfying by me.

Thanks for the props Mach, I'm actually fairly new to this, so I'm doing the best I can. I actually will hopefully pass on most of the day to day moderation in the not too distant future, as I really don't have the time to keep on top of things by myself - especially at this time of year when our business is kind of insane. However, I have kind of gotten addicted to checking in, even after putting in 12-16 hour work days, I find myself back in here in the wee hours of the morning, becasue I like the community that we are building. Anyhow, I expect my associate, villavelocity (who is actually a true forum hound), will take more of an active role, and we may offer some other moderation opportunites to some of our members as we start to move forward in the near future. My main goal was to get this thing off the ground and on its own two feet, and it is looking like that is beginning to happen. After that point, I will probably be in regularly, but not so active in administering things.

Sounds good. As long as you're here and part of the community I'm sure you won't allow things to get out of hand. I'm sure the other admins will do perfectly fine as well, and I don't see these forums having any serious problems, based on the kind of crowd we seem to have and the general quality of the content and conversation we have here. The community is growing and it's definitly addicting, to get involved in all of the great hockey discussion here. I'm glad to be a part of it.

For now that can be done in hot stove league, but once we grow a bit more can certainly become it's own section.

It hasn't been that popular yet, but if the forums continue to grow, more people might make requests. We could add a small area for graphics. Signatures, Wallpapers, avatars. Any kind of hockey related work that any members want to share, whether it's been requested or not. I know I've enjoyed making a few sigs so far, and I know you and leafs both made your own, so there's at least a couple of us who dabble in hockey graphics. Just a thought... not exactly a breakthrough idea though, huh.

Being a forum administrator and/or moderator in other areas, I think this is a good idea for the future. Right now, it looks like we have about 6-10 regulars so the message posting frequency won't be so high such that the additional categories become necessary.
(which, Wolf, is why it's so easy to moderate us
The way I oversee the forums I run is to have as few categories as possible while still remaining organized (doesn't always happen that way as I often get overruled, but it's what I aim for).

Believe me, moderation of this forum - though simple for most - is taking more time than I had planned to dedicate to it. It is just hard for me to not care about the thoughts and opinions of our customers and fellow hockey fans (as tacky as that may sound)... so I find myself staying up until 3am getting caught up, or sucking a bit to much of my work day during the day. I will start to look for moderator volunteers soon, as I am getting busier and so is the forum. If any of the regulars are interested in helping to moderate the forums here, let me know and I will make some decisions and hopefully start to share the load in the near future.

I'm always happy to help shoulder the weight, though I do like the the idea of not having any responsibilities
Should you guys need the help, I'd be happy to give it. I'll leave it to you and the future developments of the forum to decide on that, as I'm just as happy to be an ordinary member as a mod.

Especially being that I'm a part-time educator, trying to make the jump to full time... Do your homework! No forums unless you're getting your work done!
Actually I'm a pushover when it comes to grading. My homeworks and attendance are optional. My papers are easy if you try (I really don't think the majority of my students write well, especially for college kids, but I try not to grade on the quality of their writing as long as they fulfill the assignment. I just stick to the grammar, spelling and mechanics and ignore the diction for the most part...) and the only thing challenging about my course is the reading and the exams. I give extra credit when a student realizes they need it and asks for extra work... I make it very easy to pass my class. You just have to want to.
Anyways - that was very off topic - do your work. We're always here.

I am offering up something for your input here. I would like to come up with a more interesting member ranking system than what we have now. I kind of hastily put together the following system, knowing that we would likely come up with a more elaborate and expansive one eventually. The current member ranking system is as follows:
Rookie 10+ Posts
Veteran 30+ Posts
Star 100+ Posts
Superstar 500+ Posts
I am appealing to the creative minds of this forum to come up with a more extensive and fun system that will take into account the potential post volumes that we will start to accumulate sooner or later. I would say we need a minimum of 10 tiers... but some boards have a few hundred! I would like the system to tie into hockey or something hockey related in one way or another, but other than that, I am open to suggestions. I had thought of the idea of giving every level a hockey player or personality name, or a player type, starting from lowest on the respect pole to highest - but had no idea of how I could put such a list together. Please post your system in the format above, with rankname and post level required for that rank. I look forward to some interesting proposals!
