sungod661
At first i was going to pull the trigger because i felt it was a chance i was willing to take. Then i saw the Kovy which as you said mike i posted on GW and the tag is for a GI Kovy. The guy is dumb but not that dumb would sell a 2000$ jersey for 400$ and if he has a few jersey he know s what they are worth, smells like a scam
The Next One
Yeah that's pretty much how I feel as well. I also didn't know if the player would ever have his jersey even on his person, or if the team would have it pretty much all the time. Exactly, who in their right mind carries around with them their game worn jersey? It's getting washed or in a storage bin.

Brilliant!
I saw that Canucks jersey last night but my biggest question is where's the Canuck Place patch on the shoulder? If it's got the Frank Griffiths patch, it's from 1993-94 and would also have to have the Canuck Place patch. It clearly isn't though from those shots. Hmmm.... If it's got the Frank Griffiths patch, it's from 1993-94 and would also have to have the Canuck Place patch. It clearly isn't though from those shots. Hmmm.... I too was watching that one, and the bidder didn't accept Canadian Bids, or i'm sure it would have gone for more. However, like yourself there are a couple inconsistencies. There was no Canuck Place Patch for the shoulder, there wasn't even an NHL shield on the hem beside the CCM. The draw for me was actually the 2 PTS F.G. patch looked 100% accurate, which are impossible to find. The biggest red flag, but possible explanation was the fact that Brent Tully who was a draft pick for Vancouver didn't play a single game that season. Now, the regular #6 that season was Adrien Plavsic, who sat out the back half of the 93-94 season and didn't play any playoff games. I initially thought maybe it was a Plavsic, stripped the nameplate, added Tully and was a team issue incase they needed a call up, but that wouldn't explain the missing patch and NHL shield. Then, thought it could be the same scenario however a brand new jersey made up for Tully instead of recycled, but considering he didn't play a game that year it would mean that the "wear" on the jersey would have to be before cresting, or after the season, in which the patches wouldn't make sense. That Nucks isn't supposed to be game worn is it? Wouldn't there be a red NHL shield next to the CCM on the hem if it was? Not to mention the missing Canuck Palace patch you mentioned. Oops. If I had refreshed the page I would have seen the post directly above mine. Never mind. Edited January 7, 2012 by JerseyHound
sungod661
The jersey in question is a preseason shirt and went for a song...someone got a steal
Brilliant!
Now that makes sense. It was probably worn in training camp or in the pre-season of the 1994-95 season then.
sungod661
you got it, when i saw how low it was i tried to bid but it wouldn't let any canadiens bid i knew if i won it i could sell it 3 times that to chow hound lol In al seriousness that Patch alone is worth 41$ someone got a steal while someone got burned bad...... chow_hound
Not sure it's even a training camp or pre-season jersey actually. The canucks used to use fully fledged jerseys with all patches and cresting the same as the jerseys for the regular season in both training camp and pre-season. The era of CCM without the NHL shield was before the canucks changed to this modern color scheme of Red, Yellow instead of Orange and Gold, which means it's not recycled from the 90-92 era. If it was training camp, on the neck tagging there should be a ballpoint "TC" followed by the year "94" or "95" or whatever the case would be. It COULD be a 95 preseason Tully, with an after the fact added 2 pts f.g. patch by a fan, the best way to confirm would be the pen indications on the neck tagging. But again skeptical about missing patches...

sungod661
His Gretzky is fake though.... 100% wrong that Gretzky is not fake In 1999 when Gretzky retired Starter had this jerseys issued for Wayne Gretzky. So Starter put this special Patch for his retirement on the hem of jerseys for collectors. WAYNE GRETZKY SET 2 1998-1999 SEASON. These jerseys were marketed with Gretzky's permission as authentic replicas designed to match the jersey he wore in his final game with the Rangers. They are not game-worn. They are not game-issued. They are not team-issued. They are a mass-produced, authentic product. If they are marketed as such, fine. But the problem has become that some have confused these with game-worn or game-issued items. Still a very nice jersey in my opinion
akteon
100% wrong that Gretzky is not fake While there may have been at some point a "legitimate" version of that jersey (I'll have to take your word on it - I've never seen one), that specific one is indeed a fake. As are the hundreds of those that have popped up on eBay and all over those fake jersey websites (like this one). This style of fake has been discussed quite a bit in the past. Here's a quick rundown of the issues (many of which are visible in that auction): - The "G" in "RANGERS" on the front is wrong. - The blue color is actually more cyan than the royal it should be - The red color stripes are more magenta than the red it should be - The lettering/numbers numbers are the cheap vinyl-like material not twill - The stitching on the lettering/numbers is not zig-zag, almost emroidered - The seam stitching for the stripes in the hem doesn't match an authentic - The mesh material isn't exactly like that of a Starter authentic - The size tag doesn't match the 52-R etc. standard for Starter
