I think they wanted to put the NHL on the map with all that steroid, gambling, dogfighting craziness going on in the other sports.

They were offered plea deals today and here is a piece that was under their picture on sportsnet

Eric Staal and brother Jordan will be fined US $587, which works out to two minutes of work.

I guess it beats the deportation the cops were supposedly threatening them with.
