  1. I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I had Reebok 1.0 Edge Jerseys customized with mid-70s style fonts for the numbers. I went with a white nameplate for the away jersey since that was the Flyers tradition before the introduction of the 2010 Winter Classic Jersey. For the Giroux Jersey, I went with the 1974-75 Captain C which I think looks surprisingly really good on this jersey. I think this would be a way for the Flyers to have a promotional jersey without even calling it a third jersey. Let me know what you think.

How did you decide what jerseys to collect?

For me, I started collecting when Mitchell and Ness came out with the 70s replica Flyers jerseys. I always wanted a Bobby Clarke jersey from the mid 70s. Upon discovering jerseys being sold on ebay and the IceJersey's forum, I began putting together a 'history of the Flyers' with jerseys. With the info I gained from reading the forums, I was able to discover customizers that had the fonts I was looking for when I purchased blank jerseys on ebay. That is how I got started.

    Most obscure player customization.

I had a Ross Lonsberry Jersey made from a Mitchell and Ness vintage jersey. He was one of the unsung heroes on Rick MacLeish's line. He wore number 18. If I wear it to a game, most might think it's a Mike Richards jersey.

    The feedback thread

I received a John LeClair 1997 Stanley Cup Finals Jersey from rob77ta. The transaction was very easy and the jersey came very quickly after the deal was completed.

    Mitchell and Ness?

I have found that M & N's current Flyers Jerseys have inaccurate number fonts in general. They only sell the old orange away jerseys customized. The home white jersey is available blank but only in size 60 on their website. There are various fake jerseys as well on eBay as well. You can tell the fake jerseys because of the use of vinyl numbers, oddly shaped 1s and sloppy looking nameplates. The blank orange jerseys are hard to find on eBay. For customization, I have used EPS for the 70's classic jerseys because they have the correct fonts. For the classic white nameplate look I would suggest using the current Flyers nameplate font as it is the closest to what they used in 1974 unless you can get it custom made. The white nameplates were used mostly with recycled 1972-73 jerseys which used the tall peaked 1s. I would suggest finding blank jerseys or possibly buying the currently customized jerseys and send them to EPS. For font and style info check out flyershistory.com and gamewornhockey.com. I have some samples of Mitchell and Ness jerseys in my online photo collection at http://sports.webshots.com/album/579968053QbUuwj.

    My EPS experience

I thought I would put my 2 cents in since I just had some work done by EPS. I had some Mitchell and Ness Away 1974-1975 Flyers Jerseys customized, a CCM Heroes of Hockey Parent Jersey stripped and re-customized to become a 1981 Bill Barber Jersey, and a 2001 Orange Koho Flyers Jersey customized (Primeau). I sent the jerseys early in the Summer to avoid their Fall busy season. I found that if you send jerseys in the fall, they don't have much time for the small orders. They were up front about the amount of time it would take for the order to take which was about 2 months. The jerseys did arrive in early September which was on time. I was very happy with the results. EPS is the only customizer that I have found that can do the Flyers' mid-70s number fonts. They also have the mid 80s-mid 2000s fonts. For the nostalgic Flyers jersey collector, EPS does a good job if one is willing to wait.

Who to put on my Flyers blanks 8 in total

For the Koho orange 3rd I would suggest Keith Primeau with the Captain "C."

    My EPS experience

I see the mistakes they made on the home jersey. The font they used is the Flyers font used prior to the Reebok Edge jerseys dating back to 1984. The 8 has square holes instead of the rectanglar holes on the 8 that the Flyers have now. The rear numbers have a thinner border which now is supposed to be 3/4". They Flyers now use a twill nameplate instead of fabric. I don't know why they would have a problem sewing a nameplate over the rear seam. They worked on some Flyers Mitchell and Ness jerseys which have sleeve numbers that cross the seam on the sleeves. If you live in the Philadelphia area, you can go to the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J. and get the Edge Jersey with the correct fonts and materials. They use the same customizer that the team uses. You might want to give Flyers Skate Zone a call to see what they can do for you.

    New Flyers Road Authentics

I went to Flyers Skate zone in Voorhees last Friday. I asked about the Flyers new white authentic jersey availability. I had to leave a message with one of the store clerks. One of the pro shop managers called me and left a message saying that the new white authentics are available in mid-March. They are willing to take orders for jerseys for pick up. I hope this is helpful.

    Flyers orange jersey customization problem

The Flyers wore that style font for the 1972-1973 season. During the 1973-1974 season, those jerseys were recycled and the white nameplates were added for NBC telecasts. That is why the current Flyers orange jerseys have the white nameplates. Flyershistory.com has a section on the development of flyers jerseys over the years. Flyers history points out that the change of number style mimics what happened between the 1972-73 season and the 1973-74 season. By the way, with regard to the nameplate issue. I noticed during the Stanley Cup Finals that the Flyers and the Blackhawks use the same nameplate font. It might be helpful to communicate to jersey customizers to use that font for the current Flyers jerseys.

    My Stanley Cup Vow!

I would go with Lappy. It is as if Barry Ashbee came back to play in the 1974 Stanley Cup finals after getting hit with a puck.

    EBay

This seller on ebay has posted a CCM On Ice Authentic Flyers Jersey. It looks like what they wore in 1979-1980. The only thing that bothers me is that it is a size 54 which could be a red flag that the item is fake. It it truly an authentic CCM jersey? Bobby Clarke Jersey

I am sorry, I am new at posting and I didn't say that quite right. I have a blank Mitchell and Ness Away Flyers Jersey and I would like to have it customized. I would like it to be a Bobby Clarke jersey. I wanted to know where I could get it customized accurately.

    Bobby Clarke Jersey

I have a Bobby Clarke 1974 Mitchell and Ness Away Flyers Jersey. I noticed that the jersey in question has the exact customization I am looking for. How can I obtain that?
