How To STRIP A JERSEY 101

Finally got around to trying to clean up the mess I posted earlier on this page. First pass cleaned up a LOT! Still got quite a ways to go including the sleeve numbers, but it's getting there. Not going to deal with the previous name as a nameplate will cover that up. Hands down the biggest strip project I've tackled.

How could they use the design for the heritage classic if they don’t own the rights?
  3. I sent a handful of Blackhawks jerseys into CSL to be customized, however they just called and let me know that they do not have anymore red edge nameplate material. They suggested air knit, but I was wondering if anyone here had some spare edge material lying around? Need kind of a long nameplate since this jersey was being done up as a Hjalmarsson. Cheers, Matt
  4. I mean, technically I have a few Caps practice jerseys that I could destroy, but I’d rather sell them. Of course, if I cut it up and could sell nameplates for $20 each I’d be way ahead of the game!
  5. Reached out to JB, waiting to hear back. Also reached out to EPS who said it would cost $30!!! That’s practically half of what an entire jersey customization costs!
  6. My brain was clearly off. Completely forgot about a number of online retailers
  7. 2.0 were sold at retail? Huh, didn't know that. Never once saw a 2.0 at a stadium or their respective team store (Hawks, Kings, Ducks, Caps)

Another black jersey.... I was focused on the pattern on the sleeves.

    The Patch Thread 2.0

Saw that. Guess I'm going to need to find a few patches and break down and buy an Adidas jersey...

    The Official IceJerseys MLB thread

Very true. I will admit I wanted one, but couldn't get myself to actually buy a jersey. All of my blanks are customized. Believe EPS and Brilliant did them all

    The Official IceJerseys MLB thread

I've always bought blanks, but all my MLB jerseys are from the early 90's. Can't stand the cheap material they're made out of now. Old Rawlings and Russel stuff was basically like ultrafil

I may have misread one of your replies as I was referring to the 'jersey material route' as getting away from chain stitching

    The Patch Thread 2.0

If you get a lead on an authentic all-star patch, lemme know! If you go with a SCF patch, you should also get a 75th ann patch to put underneath. Since it'll be covered, doesn't matter if it's authentic or not. FWIW, I actually find the quality of the repro 75th ann patches better than the original. I bought a handful when they were available a few years ago.

    Adidas NHL On Ice Jersey

There have been a handful of chain stitched outdoor jerseys over the years with zero consistency. By that logic, every Heritage classic jersey should also be chain stitched because the Jets did it once. For the Rangers last year, wasn't it just the 'NY' or 'C/A' that was chain stitched? What was chain stitched for the Sabres? What does the time period have to do with chain stitching? I don't believe the Blackhawks used chain stitching until they switched to the current version of the crest in the mid-50's. Prior to that, the majority of the crest was felt with the smallest of details chain stitched ] Now don't get me wrong, I'm hoping they do use chain stitching because it's a staple of the Blackhawks. I'm just wondering how they'll do it with this version of the crest. Black felt circle, white felt letters, white chain stitched outline of the head? Just pure speculation on my part.
  15. Fair enough. Valid point
  16. Adizero Blackhawks jerseys can be had for under $100 customized all day long on eBay.
  17. I mostly agree with this statement. However, when you look the first Adizero jerseys for the WCOH, what they called replicas at the time are the exact same as what they now call 'authentic'. Only difference between WCOH reps and NHL 'authentics' is lack of double shoulders and a fight strap. Primary body material is identical. Only positive part about the crappiness of Adidas retail jerseys is that they're inexpensive compared to Reebok. Hopefully that stops some people from buying a Chinese knockoff

    Jersey Alteration

It's possible, but the stripes that go under the arm pits and sleeves will be affected. Like mfitz said, you also have to take into consideration shoulders which is arguably the biggest thing for proper fit. As someone who has cut up jerseys, I'd say it isn't worth it.

What year are you referring to? The 2009 WC jersey had a felt crest, but it was not chain stitched. (1.0; don't have a close up of the crest on my 2.0, but they're the same) The 2015 WC jersey used their standard logo which of course is chain stitched, but not felt. Similarly, the 2017 WC jersey used the 50/60's style crest with chain stitched detail, but again, was not felt.

Chrome?! Dear god I hope not. That's one Hawks jersey I refuse to own. I'm afraid it's Adidas so they'll go the jersey material route like they have done with every other team because it's 'lighter' or whatever crap excuse they want to give. The numbers on this year's WC will be felt which I think will be cool.

What I’m most curious about is this crest since it’s so plain. Felt black background)? White chain stitching?

I wonder if it's because they're Adidas jerseys this year? Or some of the players? Dunno as I didn't follow the auction last year, but when I looked the other day prices were (mostly) on the low end.

Eh. Bought both jerseys for under normal retail prices and was able to sell the other jersey for what I paid so at the end of the day it basically cost me the same as a regular 2.0. I actually have another pair of 15/17 WC jerseys sitting in the wrapper that I bought a year/year and a half ago. Was going to make a second jersey, just haven't gotten around to it yet
