Well when it comes to Buffalo's Free Agents, unless Maxim decides to take a ridiculous paycut (league veteran minimum?) I can't see him returning to Buffalo. Would be happy if the Sabres added to their Defense as I felt that was their biggest need last offseason, hopefully they address it this offseason.

Both sides are so sick of each other I expect Max to go to the KHL. If the Sabs could add a d-man and another pure scorer, I think they will be set. Instead, I think they will just bring up the young kids and keep under their self imposed cap. I don't know if that's going to cut it for next season.

I'm kinda surprised both he and Kalinin lasted as long with the team as they did.

Chelios won't be on the Wings next season.

Gotta figure some team out there is willing to take on his veteran leadership though, if he wants to continue to play.

Need a young starting goalie? Kari Lehtonen or Pavelec one of which will be available to be traded for according to Don Waddell.

"Waddell said it is likely that either Lehtonen or Pavelec will be traded."

these are awesome collections. signature_jersey.jpg

What?

Anyways...The Pens re-signed Guerin and Adams! Jussi Jokinen's staying in Carolina, and if you're a Caps fan, they extended qualifying offers to 8 players! Hopefully Fehr and Gordon will be back.

Bouwmeester is now off the market. After having his rights traded to the Flames, today he agreed to a 5 year deal that averages 6.6 million per year.

HOSSA TO CHICAGO?!?!?!

12 years and a $5.2 hit to the cap. Not a bad deal, but I have a feeling that they are not planning on resigning Toews, Kane and Keith. One or more will be gone as cap casualties soon.

HOSSA TO CHICAGO?!?!?!

I didn't expect that one, logged onto TSN during one of my breaks at work and saw that and was quite surprised. Somebody is gonna be the oddman out in Chicago and I don't imagine that it is Kane or Toews.

Other recent free agent signings ...

G - Dwayne Roloson (former Oiler) signs with the Islanders - 2 yr/$5 mill

D - Scott Niedermayer (Ducks) re-signs with Anaheim - 1 yr/$6 mill

W - Colton Orr (former Ranger) signs with Toronto - 4 yr/$4 mill

W - Donald Brashear (former Cap) signs with Rangers - 2 yr/$2.8 mill

W - Mike Knuble (former Flyer) signs with Capitals - 2 yr/$5.8 mill

My thoughts:

- Roloson to Islanders for that much means DiPietro is probably still ailing.

- Rangers upgrade from Colton Orr to Donald Brashear, but I still can't forgive that hit on Betts.

- Glad to see Knuble move from that horrible orange to a nice shade of red.

Hal Gill to the Habs. Someone described him as a "stay at home" defenseman - i would call him a pylon. He was definately the player who most benefitted from the lax obstruction calls - slowest guy on the ice.

Gaborik to the Rangers. 5 years, $7.5 million per year. Looking to see what he has the potential to do with Drury as his Center.

Couple more ...

Gionta to the Habs - 5 yr/$25 mill

Madden to Hawks - 1 yr/$2.75 mill

I'm torn on Gaborik - he's definitely talented, just fragile. Atleast I'm happy we didn't give up Dubinsky, like many of the Heatley rumors I had heard.

Gionta and Madden surprise me - Gionta seems like he'd be a priority for the Devils to resign, and Madden just seemed like someone who'd be a Devil til he retired.

The Wild have replaced the perhaps formerly fragile Marian Gaborik with the continuously fragile Martin Havlat. I think this is a downgrade for Minnesota since Gaborik has 40, if not 50 goal potential in exchange for a guy with 30 goal potential, assuming he can come anywhere near his 81 games of last year after averaging 55.5 games his previous seven seasons and 36 over his previous 3 prior to last year.

While it is a slight downgrade, the savings of $2.5 million per could be beneficial to the team. Just gotta hope that Havlat does what he did this past season and that the upcoming change in gameplan for the Wild allows him to have some open ice.
