Not even 7 years ago when the Phillies were in the World Series against the Rays the fans chanted "Eva" every time Evan Longoria came to bat, playing off the similarities between his name and Eva Longoria's. As we so often hear, many chants are meant to belittle. 'Hey ref, you suck.' Yelling a player's name over and over. What is the chant in question? Calling a male by a female's name. The implication? That we can belittle a player by equating him with a woman. That's disrespectful, along with every time I hear the Sedin Sisters and Sydney Crosby.
