https://www.yahoo.com/tech/ebay-hacked-urges-all-members-to-change-passwords-86405258249.html

The online auction and sales giant eBay posted a message Wednesday morning saying that it had been hacked, urging all of its members to change their passwords.

The company said in a statement that a database containing encrypted passwords had been breached, but that financial data, including credit card information, was stored separately and was still safe. Hackers were able to gain access to eBay employee log-ins, eBay said, which in turn gave them access to the encoded passwords.

eBay says that no unauthorized transactions have yet been made with the information. But if you’re an eBay user, you still definitely need a new password.

“[C]hanging passwords is a best practice,” the statement said, “and will help enhance security for eBay users.”

Gotta love eBay.....the breach happened 2-3 months ago and we find out now......amazing......

I would do some searches for "pwd db" or the like....it would be hilarious the DB was for sale on their own site.....or Kijiji, another eBay company

Give all the knockoffs for sale on the site and nothing getting done, I wouldn't be surprised if an auction for that did surface, that it would run to completion :)

What's interesting about the Yahoo article is that it said that ebay posted a message this morning about the hack -- where did they post it?

I have been on ebay numerous times today and received multiple messages in my ebay message box, but nothing official from ebay themselves. Has anyone here received a message from ebay recommending a password change?

It's obviously bad PR for them, but wouldn't they want to directly inform their user base through their own message system rather than just send a press release through the newswire?

They posted it on their site (not sure where exactly) and quickly took it down. It leaked before they wanted it to.

eBay has not officially notified members via message. I guess they hope you get your news via twitter 24/7

You would think they would be proactive this way....but no....they act like many other corporations have in the face of data security breaches.

That thing is sweet. But, all I can see is some hipster ######-face wearing it around with his skinny jeans and coke-bottle glasses and 70's mustace. Or worse... some "yah-dude" bro-type wearing it with an LA Kings snapback to his frat's Christmas party... Ugh

Here are some things from eBay:

Tuukka Rask 2009-2010 GI Bruins Third (one of that set that the MGG had up for sale)

Shea Weber 2010-2011 GW Preds Third

Those Meigray ones must be fake - don't the real ones say "Groop":doh:

The Weber link leads to the Thornton jersey. I couldn't find the Weber on a quick search, but I did find this, which I thought was interesting- a Weber 2011-12 Indo-Edge Predators Navy 3rd, even though the Preds didn't even wear that jersey that year.

Thanks! No wonder I couldn't find it during the search- the title says "Pedators." Sounds kinda creepy. :P
