Brilliant!
That's a replica patch. The real ones had a slight notch in between the W and the O:
CJ Matthews
you Mike. I have 2 of those "replica" patches that I bought because I was originally told on here they were legit a few years back. Where were you to chime in then!? Richter9377
Looks like the legit patch has a thick boarder around it too.
JoeM7392
I know nothing about these 75th patches, but I know some of you will. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/171574004439 Is this real, repro, fake or other? I'm assuming it's a licensed repro which would be good enough for my purposes.
LAK74
You are correct; it's an officially-licensed repro. There are some slight differences in details from the original 1991 patch, but nothing super obvious, and you are at least getting an official product. Bronson
Hey guys. I couldn't find the patch thread so I'm posting here. I recently won a Connecticut Whale jersey and I'm going to send it out to get customized. My question is where can I find the Hartford company patch that was on the jerseys? I'm not having any luck so I figured I would ask here. Thanks in advance.
thebiggoalie
The only ones I've seen on eBay were for the Wolfpack jerseys (they look different).

It's no biggie If I can't find it. Tough break for game 7. We'll win it next year.
Hawks2797
Not sure if this was covered here before. I apologize if tis was, but what are some tips for identifying repro patches from authentic ones?
chow_hound
Not sure if this was covered here before. I apologize if tis was, but what are some tips for identifying repro patches from authentic ones? Without being specific about which patch you are trying to determine genuine there isnt any tips we can give you. However for a generic response, if you are trying to determine if any patch is a genuine one you can compare details against known examples of legitimate patches. That is best done by finding photos of game worn jerseys that have the patch attached you are trying to authenticate. Most auction companies showcase a close up photo of patches. Start there. Hawks2797
Yeah not really to sure what I'm looking for yet but I really like to put a patch on a jersey if it's possible for the jersey I'm looking at. So let's say older Stanley cup patches, comparing photos what are usually key indicators? Different font's, colors incorrect, etc.. Thanks again! CJ Matthews
Usually with older patches the lines aren't as sharp compared to the repros, whereas for newer patches the lines on the repros aren't as sharp as originals. This obviously isn't a blanket statement, but just an example. Colors can be a key indicator, as well as lack of detail on certain parts of a patch, like the 4 Stanley Cups on the Islanders 25th anniversary patch. Maybe a missing or added trademark symbol, like with the 1994 Stanley Cup patch on certain reproductions. Each patch is different.
mfitz804
Can someone give me dimensions for a Red Wings All Star jersey sleeve patch, preferrably a 2002? I may be picking up a jersey that the only option I will consider is a Shanahan. Anyone with any info, please let me know so I know what I am looking for in case I do need it. Thanks. albdarned
I'm looking for a 1997 Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup patch, and see this one on ebay: http://tinyurl.com/p2ffngu It's listed as authentic vintage from a seller who has a lot of other vintage stuff listed, so so far so good I guess. It has a nice sunburst with triangular rays coming from the sun behind the cup, while most of the repros seem to have little sticks coming from the sun instead of the triangular rays: http://tinyurl.com/oqe22k6 I haven't been able to find a really good clear picture of a known authentic '97 patch, but most of the shots showing them blurred up (& bunched up over the shoulder while hoisting Lord Stanley's Mug) seem to have a fair bit of orange glow around the cup, whereas the repro stick rays don't really give that effect the way the triangular ones do. I'm inclined to buy the real vintage one linked above (if it looks good?), then have it sewn to my jersey by a good service ... it seems the website hosts here (icejerseys) are the way to go there? Thoughts? Thanks for the help!
AngeloS76
Closest I've ever found to an original is this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221667455360 Compare to the original: http://www.gamewornauctions.net/products/Steve_Yzerman_Red_Wings_Authentic_Jersey_1998_Stanley_Cup_Finals_Believe_VK_SM-3103-91.html Not a '97 patch, but still good for a Wings Nike jersey Edited June 9, 2015 by AngeloS76
albdarned
Thanks Angelo, nice patch ... I'm keen to find it in a '97 though. But yeah, that 'vintage' one I posted is a bit off I guess ...

liquidice
I recently bought a BNWT Authentic NYR Messier jersey - Can't be 100% sure but it is of the same style that they wore in '93-'94 I think. It has the 1994 Stanley Cup patch on it - I was wondering if you can tell if it is authentic or at least a good reproduction? It has the TM on the bottom. http://i.imgur.com/oXYxrT0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pU2R20K.jpg

liquidice
Definitely not authentic, but a good reproduction. What are the measurements of it? It is about 3.75" Tall and 3.5" wide.

DHD28
What is the likelihood that my 2015 SCF patch from Patch Collection is fake?
LAK74
I don't own any 2015 patches, but I will say that all the embroidered details look exactly like my official 2014 ones. If it came in a National Emblem package you're probably fine.
Kingofkings
If it came loose (without the packaging) then see if it has the official NHL licensing on the back
