mlaval
Does anybody know a legit source where I can buy a Pens inaugural season patch of the Consol Energy center? The ones on ebay all look pretty crappy. Thanks! EDIT: by the way I did check the "usual suspects" and none seem to have the patch on sell. Just to avoid some of you looking for them on these sites. NYIJM29
I just bought one of the ultrafil Habs jerseys from MGG clearance. Should I add the Vintage patch to the jersey? If so, does anyone know where I can find one? Is this legit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140477903766&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT or http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220671662463&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT? I think the first one looks better. Did the Habs ever wear that Vintage patch? Thanks for all of the help!

WingedWheelers
Need some opinions on these. I bought the 2008, 2009, and Believe patches on ebay, before I found this site to get opinions on them. I'd like to know if these patches are real, or fakes. I got the 98 and 2002 cup patches on river city sports, so I'm assuming they're real. However, I've seen both the pointed tips on these patches, and rounded. Which ones are the authentic, on-ice patches that were worn during the finals, the rounded or pointed? Also, the patches I got at river city, as well as the Believe patch, have this plastic-like, glue type stuff on the back. The 2008 and 2009 patches don't have this (see picture). Should this layer be scrapped off before sewing to a jersey? Thanks in advance.
guam64
The 98 Cup patch is no good, the NHL logo should not have the ® next to it. Jordan posted one from a gamer a few posts up.

Thanks. Is the one in my picture a souvenir or something? I purchased it from River City Sports, so it shouldn't be fake. I guess I just never noticed that the official patch didn't have an ® symbol. Brilliant!
You have to be careful with the patches that RCS sells unfortunately. They're not always 100% accurate. For instance, all on-ice Stanley Cup patches from 1995 until 1999 had the tips of the black banner outline rounded off rather than come to a point. Here's a 1998 gamer from capsjerseys.com:

mlaval
I'm planning to put the inaugural season of the Consol energy center patch on my baby blue pens jersey when I realized that they apparently are wearing another version of the patch with shades of blue on it. I've looked through getty images and it seems to be the case but it is really hard to tell. These seems to be the two versions: blue: http://cgi.ebay.com/PENGUINS-INAUGURAL-SEASON-CONSOL-ENERGY-CENTER-PATCH-bu-/150505684857?pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item230ad67f79 Normal: http://cgi.ebay.com/PENGUINS-INAUGURAL-SEASON-CONSOL-ENERGY-CENTER-PATCH-bk-/150505684424?pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item230ad67dc8 Can anyone confirm that my understanding is correct? Also if someone knows a place to buy them cheaper than $30 please let me know... I don't feel like spending $30 on a patch... Thanks
NYIJM29
I think Sports K sells legit patches. Here is their '98 Cup http://www.sportsk.com/stcuppa19.html You can try sending them an email asking if they will get the Consol Energy Center patches. They had all the patches I needed, prices were decent, order placed. Ooorah
WingedWheelers
Ok, so I ordered my patches from sportsk. They arrived today - eagerly opening the package I find the 2002 Stanley Cup patch with the rounded corners, but the 97/98 cup patches had the pointed corners like the ones pictured above (without the trademark symbol this time, we're getting closer!) I emailed sportsk, asking if they had any with the rounded corners. One of the owners replied back giving me a little bit of background on the 97/98 cup patches. He said that the patches I got came directly from Stahl's, which makes the lettering kits for the Wings. Stahl's was so swamped with orders for these patches after the Wings won, they had a few different suppliers make them. Some had the rounded corners, others had the pointed. However, they're all authentic. I'll probably just cut the corners to round them off before having them sewn onto the jerseys.
Brilliant!
Send them over here. I'll take care of both for you.
TheMadHat
Looking for an authentic Canucks 25th anniversary patch if anybody has one or knows where I should be looking. Just received one that I ordered off ebay and it's pretty sloppy when you compare it to the authentics.

LesNordiques
EDIT: Just got contacted by SportsK. Shipping is free to Canada there ya go... and those are legit authentic patches, they have the hard plastic on the back so you will have to remove it before applying as noted on their site These patches have a plastic backing as they are considered collectibles. You can sew them onto clothing by cutting off the plastic backing or using a heavy duty sewing machine.
JohnnyOnTheSpot
I have an authentic 1998 NA jersey coming in that I plan on making a LeClair, is this patch ok? http://cgi.ebay.com/USA-Flag-Patch-Sew-NHL-Hockey-Jersey-/130342180272?pt=US_Olympics_Fan_Shop&hash=item1e58ffd5b0#ht_567wt_905
Brilliant!
That's the one. altanhl sells good stuff; even if it does take forever to show up. When you're going for those All-Star flag patches, the ones with the thick white border on the edges are the real deal ones.

I still have a problem with the Flyers patch, this looks like the right shape but it doesn't have much of a border: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310143196889&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1156 The official ones have a smaller orange dot, but if you look here, it's a bigger one:
